Like, I can choose to play a game with uniquely designed critters, a fun story, and a fresh new battle system.

Or the stolen asset game that literally doesn't care to be good or creative.

Seriously, Beastieball made me so excited for my little guys, it genuinely made me fall in love with a whole host of critters with their own unique personalities and styles, and it had a completely unique "battle" system to boot. It's such a peak example of what creative passion can accomplish.

What sucks is how much games like Pickmon draw attention away from indies that are made because of a love for the genre, for wanting to go on an adventure with your silly little guys and getting to bond with them as you overcome obstacles like what Beastieball does.

I'd rather play Beastieball than Pickmon.

It's possible to make monster collection games, even ones that bear the pokémon inspiration proudly on its sleeve, without just looking like the most loveless passionless junk in existence.

so as long as I never evolve from a Riolu into a Lucario I should be perfectly safe right?
