Curlew Conservation Update - Release pen construction
Whilst the Curlew chicks are being cared for in Fota Wildlife Park,our teams are on the ground preparing for their phased release back into the wild.
Release pens have been constructed on twocarrfully selected island sites.

🌿 Extensive Grassland Biodiversity Event
Yesterday, we had the pleasure of attending the Extensive Grassland Biodiversity Event, co-hosted by Teagasc and The Heritage Council.
The morning kicked off with insightful talks from John Feehan, John Muldowney, and Helen Sheridan.
Breeding Waders EIP are currently recruiting a Post Doctoral Researcher Level 2.
This is a full time position and will be based at ATU Galway City Campus. Closing date Friday June 25th.

Curlew eggs have arrived at our project partner, Fota Wildlife Park! 🥚✨
But how did they get there?
Our Headstarting Manager, Donal Beagan, shows the meticulous process of collecting these eggs from the wild, treating them with utmost care and respect.

Nest Protection Officer Training Module 2!
NPO training continued this week with a focus on ethical trapping and fieldcraft.

It was great to catch up with one of my favourite nature restoration projects this week, as I met the @breedingwaderseip.bsky.social team at an #IrishRuralLink information day. Had a good chat too with IRL's Séamus Boland about keeping rural development at the forefront of my work in Seanad Éireann.
At Breeding Waders EIP, we believe that working together is key to achieving our shared goals. We love connecting with stakeholders, gathering feedback, and
implementing ideas that benefit both the birds and the community. Recently, we held two community and knowledge exchange meetings in Donegal.
We were delighted to receive an update from the LIFE on Machair team. These beautiful images of Lapwing within the fenced area has truly made our week, so we had to share.
