I suspect there's still reasons to do so in the same ways that repainting the masters is a time honored way of studying art.
But yeah, I LOVE the Pop goes Punk albums and end up deeply confused sometimes when the lyft is playing a pop station and I don't know why I recognize the song.
Those are my favorite sorts of covers--if you're not remaking the song in a totally new style/direction, what's the point? (An exception obviously for The Ataris's Boys of Summer)
Who even is the original artist sometimes? Not everyone writes their own songs in the first place, so are they the original artist just because they're the first person to release it?
Just remembered the time in HS when someone asked what i was reading and i was like "Memoirs of an Invisible Man" and they were (in 2026 terminology) like "omg, James Baldwin? how woke (admiringly)" and I was like " No, H F Saint." and we just stared at each other in confusion for a moment.
My rottie is a dipshit with a job--attention span of a goldfish, can't remember her manners for more than a minute, also can't sit immediately when we leave the house because she has to monitor the area in detail before she relaxes her guard.
I was just saying to a friend every single time it's this.
Who's super fancy?
It's me! I have a story out today!
Any audio SFF listeners out there? Chirp's current on-sale SFF audio bundles are a little ridiculous rn. Too many fab authors to name them all, but Tamsyn Muir, NK Jemisin, Cherie Priest, Jeff Vandermeer, Charles de Lint, and T Kingfisher to name a few have books in.

I'm pretty sure it's magic.
We had one in the vet records as Ellis because everyone called him Little Shit (LS) and we didn't want to admit it. (His actual name was Mercury, which I tried to get my mom to tell them it was Hg, but she wouldn't go for that either.)
Had this cat (Aniyo) been a boy, she would have been named Smintheus, for Apollo's mouse cult.
The two best ridiculous stories about capitalism which are going to be true any minute now are Kukla Boogie Moon by Eliot Fintushel (Lady Churchill's Rosebud Wristlet #13) and the Robert Rankin story? in which a guy teaches himself to sleep with his eyes open to earn credits from the tv.
The moral of this story is write letters to scientists.
I don't want to sound paranoid but there definitely was not a cat toy on my bed before i went to take a shower, and now there is.
Do you think it's a spawn point for lootboxes?
The very best thing about music is that sometimes i will hear a song i have heard at least 1000x before and it will still manage to be so lovely this time that i want to cry. Tonight, it was Booth and the Bad Angel, I Believe.
Music that i can carry in my pocket will never cease to be a miracle.
but you have 4 paws, which gives you a lot more space to worry than the rest of us.
i mean, I'm fine even with just subtitles, and I take it they've got that.
is iQiyi captioned? I never remember to check, but there are a couple of things i want to see that are on it and nothing else.

The United States, with massive high-grade petroleum reserves, going after Venezuelan oil is like a guy who owns a licensed Michigan hydroponic grow with the best genetics available smoking ditch weed. It's like Prada mounting a hostile takeover of Forever 21. It's like Detox raiding Jiggly's closet
It's not like it means anything when any of the techbros say it either, though, so they don't see the difference.
Sure, like in a box under her sink or something like that?

"Almost everything has sucked all year, read the archives or not IDC."
well, it actually had to be more careful than that because it's this year or next, depending on new employees or annual renewal, so it ended up being changed to something like "the benefit year" but it was in the system wrong so paper it was for me that year.
