I'm in my element here at the HPS conference. For some reason, for my first conference, I decided to torture myself by presenting. It was great to show my work and get feedback from my fellow HPs. #HPS2025

Nuclear waste (correctly called used nuclear fuel) is something we should be proud of. youtu.be/_vXKIOYLY5Q?...
They are, but sadly they are not in season π’.
It's strawberry season in Fukushima and I just ate my first fresh fruit from Fukushima while having lunch 6 miles (11 km) south of Daiichi. Honest review: hands down the BEST strawberries I've ever had. So sweet! They're juicy like a peach. I'll be thinking about them for a while.
I made it to Japan and am enjoying attending the Asian Pacific Nuclear Energy 25. It is truly an honor to be among such giants of the industry. It is amazing to see the turnaround Japan has made toward nuclear power 14 years after the Fukushima Daiichi accident.

And I'm off to Fukushima!
There was a drone strike on the New Safe Confinement over the Chornobyl nuclear plant. There are no indications of increased radiation levels and there is no current risk to the public.

So it looks like I'm finally visiting Fukushima! Thanks to everyone who supported me.
If you want to continue to support me (I still need to get a new radiation detector!) you can here: gofund.me/2e50066d
What a terrible way to frame this. Any clean energy target that leaves out nuclear is a non-starter. If a target awards a country for shutting down one form of clean energy (nuclear) and replacing it with another (wind/solar), it just incentivizes spinning wheels.

I would absolutely live and have lived near a nuclear plant. People who live close to nuclear plants have higher support for nuclear power.

Did you know that you can find detectable radiation at the grocery store?
Testing out how reposting works on Bluesky.

Thanks, Katy. I'll look into that!
Nuclear waste is already paid for
So it looks like Bluesky only accepts <60-sec videos. I haven't made those since my early days on TikTok. While I contemplate putting together some short videos, enjoy this video from a recent time I showed off my cloud chamber at the Wisconsin Science Festival.
