And that's me done with social media until next Sunday.
I offer you up the hot cross bun flavours I found in co-op today as entertainment.

Three types of tomatoes and an early variety of aubergine sown.
I haven't sown any ox heart tomatoes and I'm wondering if that's a mistake.

On the other hand I might be getting carried away due to last year, when the blight stopped in its tracks for an extra month or so.

Seeing the suggestion of a parish wild camp.
I love it.
Also fighting the urge to overlap the parishes map and the Dartmoor wild camping map to work out how many & which parishes are the only ones in English where it's legal without landowner's permission.

Ours is one of them.

PS. You do you, but I'm gonna block now.

You seem to be spending your weekend finding posts that mention him and then defending him.
He doesn't need your defence.

I didn't engage with it at the time but read the book last year.
Rolled my eyes so many times. People think the main character is aspirational?

I see TimothΓ©e Chalamet dissing ballet and saying that no one cares about it.

He can try to explain that to my niece, and every other girl and woman I know who still remembers the day they got their first ballet shoes.

Just because more women than men like something doesn't mean no one cares.

That's a rather lovely sponsor too.

Have avoided social media all week. It's been good for my head.
It's also meant I've been reading articles from a range of sources. Which I highly recommend. It's been informative.

The war so far is air based, not people on the ground. It's been difficult to get journalists into Iran for some time. They've no/extremely limited internet. Much word on the ground is getting out via phone calls/not video.

Bellingcat is doing work looking at the extent of damage via satellite.

Really good point that men are often more interested in having children, so they need to step up on the related labour*.

Emotional and mental as well as physical.

Consider also the routines that serve you at times off work like weekends. You've probably had to build those, and thinking how you built them might help with thinking about the future.
You've probably had to build and rebuild routines many times over your life. You've learnt ways how not to do that

I find myself asking "If Farage was working to undermine the UK what would he be doing differently?"
He's obviously not the only one, but he is the figurehead.

From the Virgin Mary to #TradWives, society’s interpretations of the Bible have always distorted how women are seen. @bethallisonbarr.bsky.social and @chinemcdonald.bsky.social got together at Greenbelt to tell a more hopeful and surprising story.

I think I saw them last year, although I'm not certain it was in Waitrose. I imagine they taste better than the toffee apple hot cross buns, but I do like a Bakewell tart.

If she's like that with that aisle, imagine what she'd be like with the rest of Waitrose?

"Why are there so many types of cheese"
"What is a Bakewell tart flavour hot cross bun?"

Photo with sparse daffodils flowering in the fore ground and a river in the middle ground. And woodland on the other side of the river. Silly daffodils and their not petals.

As I am very briefly back on social media (just today), I offer you some wild daffodils.

It was filmed at Hound Tor on Dartmoor, with the cast and crew staying in Chagford.
That fab set of yellow waterproof was bought in Chagford, because it was so wet and well .... Dartmoor.

Some of my friends used it as a finish point for their DofE hike. They later regretted that choice.

Motorway services do have them.
I find the issue with location gets to be when you're away from motorways. And when chargers break and don't get fixed for months.

I’m not optimistic about the state of the world, but I am hopeful

there’s a reason it was hope, not optimism, hidden at the bottom of Pandora’s box

hope doesn’t require one to believe that a good outcome is the most rationally likely outcome, it just requires you to work towards it anyway

If you're a praying type of person - please pray for the Promise School in Okehampton.
There's a fire, and it's been burning for hours. It's a SEN school. The community is rallying, but the children who attend come from a wide catchment area.

I attended one of these protests as a uni student. I saw what the media and politicians were saying and decided that they were justifying violence.

My brain is still going "there's more than 32k species in the daisy family alone but some people think gender is binary"

It won't compute.

Some people have very small lives.

I've complained to the BBC. It's describing something that doesn't happen and I expect the BBC to do better (yes I know they're institutionally transphobic but they're the BBC and should do better).

I want the BBC to not be misleading the public about this.

I know only too well how transphobic the BBC is, but it's still the BBC. It still has its duty to be informed and impartial and to challenge people where necessary.

When I underwent assessment for gender dysphoria I had to - convince the GP to refer me for assessment, be seen by a psychologist at the local community mental health team, undergo another assessment, and then go through specialist counselling before I got to speak to a doctor at the gender clinic.
