Exactly this. As someone who has held a camera and filmed ICE during terrifying moments: agent body cams are not a replacement. They can get turned off/never get turned on (like cops do all the time), footage might not get released or might be withheld until the incident is cold in the public memory

I keep seeing people asking why the police aren't arresting ICE or protecting people from ICE and I desperately need you to understand that the police aren't protecting you from ICE because protecting YOU is not and never has been their function and that's why we need to defund them.

Can verify based on friends I've talked to. A friend who is a *Canadian* immigrant carries his passport and is asking neighbors in his building to not let in anyone they don't recognize.
