The disdain so many Europeans & Americans have toward prosperous ME cities like Dubai, Muscat, Tehran, or Riyadh is quite jarring. One cannot dismiss that this might have something to do w the current policy of creating regional chaos & destroying trade… + the glee & the boasting people express
More explosions in the centre of Tehran

A friend’s report from Tehran (from X, but I verified it with him on WhatsApp):
“ATMs are either welded shut and are closed or have no services and are empty of cash”
(There are no credit cards in Iran. Bank Card transactions are common, but cash is also widely used)
Heavy shelling of the Mehrabad Airport in west of Tehran. Other videos show very extensive destruction. This is Tehran’s former international airport which is now used for some domestic & Hajj flights. Heavy population centers immediately to its north & west.
I kind of have been around as long as they have and remember them clearly from the 1980’s and the Lebanese civil war. But don’t get why they still exist in this day and age

Well, my mum has now become a war refugee at the age of 78, I guess! She is fleeing Tehran with friends to a city 1000 kms away. After years of living in the UK, Switzerland, and the US, she decided to go back to Iran a few years ago, & now she is displaced from her hometown, thanks to T-rump!
Several sources, also from within Kurdistan, came out saying they have not undertaken any such action.
Oh. This. I followed up and forgot to tell you. It’s a debate on X now. The area was hit, but pro-US groups claim it’s a military facility near the factory, while pro-IRI say that it was a factory & another one was hit too. Idk how to confirm either.

Very intense bombing today in the east, north, and west of Tehran. The news of the direct bombing of a popular sports arena (Israelis ofc claim ‘twas a makeshift ‘break room’ for IRGC… sounds made up tbh) has shocked many. Mum called again, this time scared & worried. Time to get her out I reckon.

Friends from Iran report that there has been less bombings last night in Tehran. It might be that it is far from them. Whatever that means!

Among the things that makes me really sad is the loss of the trees. Tehran is relatively green, being in the mountains and benefitting from glacial streams. Some trees are quite old and they help much to control the air pollution. Their loss is devastating.
