I discovered a very strange superpower today - I am very good at guessing Beatles songs when they're played backwards. I went 15 for 15.

I spent the afternoon assembling IKEA furniture and now have two pretty chaise chairs. Tomorrow, the sofa.
RIP Robert Carradine. As someone who struggles with bipolar disorder every day I can empathize completely.
We havenβt even had our new sofa β or most of it, since IKEA didnβt deliver the armrests β for 24 hours and a cat threw up on it. Bissell Spotbot to the rescue.
i'm just so fucking exhausted, could privileged cis het white people with guns and money take a turn please in screaming "trans rights are human rights" and getting shit done for a few years please

TIL that my insurance company has an exclusion in my policy for collisions that happen when doing gig work. π«
I had to make a DoorDash pickup yesterday at The Cheesecake Factory, on Valentineβs Day, and it was the biggest fucking nightmare Iβve ever seen. It was like the zombies trying to get into the mall in βDawn of the Dead.β
βBegin the Beginβ lives on an endless loop in my head. Far and away my favorite song by them.
I am now the acting blog editor for DSA Cleveland and Iβve got a pipeline full of material thatβs coming out in the next couple of weeks. Keep an eye on www.dsacleveland.org/category/blog
I finally did it - after more than two years out of work and countless ignored resumes sent, I've accepted that the job market for 56 year old disabled trans women is not robust. So I spent my first day as a DoorDasher today, working 10:30-4:30. It wasn't as miserable as I expected but wasn't great.
I have decided i am going to try one last time to grow my hair long. Like halfway down my back long. But now Iβm starting from a pixie cut and itβs going to take f o r e v e r
I wonβt lie, his βmoth jokeβ is an all time classic, but otherwise yeah.
I am lazy and hungry and have DoorDashed dessert. But i am supporting a local Black-owned business during Black History Month so that is my excuse.

Yeah, that tracks!
It is impossible to count the number of times I watched βBattle Beyond the Starsβ on cable as a kid, and this ship was uh a not-insignificant reason why.
Sometimes when Iβm feeling blue I remember itβs February and I will soon have my hands on the new Sisters of Dorley Hall book.

Ok but you have to follow me back or itβs all for nought!
Stopped at Dunkin on the way home from therapy to pick up coffees for me and my wife, then slipped on ice on my front steps and spilled mine everywhere. π
DHS, ICE, Border Patrol, itβs all gotta go.
Currently reading Eric Fonerβs βReconstruction: Americaβs Unfinished Revolution 1863-1877β and whoooo boy did we as a nation fuck things up royally.
π³οΈβπ Gay rights: We need to figure it out if *all* Queer people are gonna make it, but the buck starts and ends with Trans people.
When they come for us, it affects everyone else - it always does. Trans rights *are* human rights, when we are safe, so is *anyone* under the Queer umbrella.
A screenshot of a Twitter post by Jesse Singal (@jessesingal) criticizing a post by Alejandra Caraballo (@esqueer.net). Singalβs caption states: "No one actually thinks a double mastectomy is similar to a nose job. That is the sort of stunted, pseudointellectual space you inevitably end up in after you spend years attempting to reputationally napalm good-faith critics and skeptics". βCaraballoβs embedded post includes a link to a Washington Post article titled "First major medical group opposes gender transition surgeries for youth," which reports that the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) suggests delaying these surgeries until age 19 due to "insufficient evidence". Caraballo argues that the ASPS has no issue with thousands of minors receiving nose jobs but is choosing to align with political bans rather than medical science.
Itβs funny how "insufficient evidence" only seems to apply when the treatment makes people uncomfortable, but thousands of nose and boob jobs for minors gets a pass because nobodyβs making a culture war podcast about elective rhinoplasty.

The saga of my furniture continues. I just called IKEA and they finally conceded that my order was lost somewhere. So they rebooked it as a new order at no charge to us an refunded our shipping costs, with an estimated delivery date of next Friday. Fingers crossed!
