Totally agree - he was not what they thought they were getting.
There is real mileage in starting again with our performance leadership but who would we bring in that knows what they are doing?
KITT’s exhaust system was never the same again and don’t get me started on the state his dipstick was in.
I do get why they made the decision tbf.
He seemed like a calm head and had a reputation for developing youth through to the first team.
He played a high-press game & got more out of his squad than he should have on paper.
Turns out it wasn’t him but the overall set up at Brentford that did it
The errors yesterday were mostly linked to overplaying.
Someone needs to tell them to just make the simple pass.
Tel’s pass inside to Biss was criminal.
I thought Souza was decent - not amazing but decent
So is our game against Atletico though?
I concede your point about worst team in the league.
But we don’t play the worst football in the league - that’s saved for title contenders.
Without that sending off I think we win that game yesterday.
Palace’s xG even versus ten men wasn’t amazing and there were significant parts of the game where we looked dangerous (although quite disjointed).
The question is whether there was enough there to build on. #THFC
Semi-ironically against Palace 😢
Burnley
Do we know for a fact he wasn’t resting anyone?
Biss AND Gallagher came on immediately after the sending off.
Like he was holding them back in case we needed them
💯
I suspect Archie Gray would have the captaincy if it weren’t such a heavy burden right now
My only walk out was when Adebayor put in a half volley winner against us in injury time at the lane against Arsenal.
I got up to walk out as he struck the ball cos I knew it was going in.
I can still remember the sheer feeling of dejection and anger.
I totally understand why you walked out.
We need someone to fall like a stone and to hope that isn’t us
The January transfer window was a horrendous misstep.
We were focussed on signing elite players when we needed players to get us through this fight.
Time will tell what a bad decision that was.
Especially if we are relegated and lose the elite players we have currently.
Except that the last time they played us they had 60%+ of possession.
I’m not sure what could have been different in that selection - he clearly wanted to rest Gallagher, Biss and Xavi.
But the porro/gray positioning choice was a bit odd
Fortunate ≠ goal ruled out for offside.
We weren’t great but momentum was looking more like us getting a second than palace coming back into it.
And we also need to give airtime to the players who are standing up to be counted at this time.
Gray yesterday was the best player on the pitch by a mile - still trying difficult things and covering every blade of grass for the whole 90 minutes.
I think I would try to isolate him against the full back more often to get them in the book early.
If we can get Kudus back soon and have that balance on the flanks we could have a real threat on our hands
I went over to X last night out of curiosity on how bad it has got.
What it surfaced for me to start with was video of Arsenal players pulling Brighton players down in the box in open play in a much worse fashion than Micky did for the sending off yesterday and VAR and the referee did nothing.
Really liked Souza - think he was taken off because he was on a yellow rather than completely tactical.
Love what Tel brings going forward but he is a liability in the defensive third.
We need him to lift the fans but we also need to use him in a free role.
Also, by the time we play Forest we are likely to have a few more players back and fit.
We could be in a much better place by then to go on a little run.
It’s a very optimistic view but also quite possible.
The give and goes down the right hand side involving Gray and Porro show signs of growth
Important to remember that before the sending off we were leading and in control of the match.
The capitulation after the sending off was partly due to some overplaying and partly due to some poor organisation.
Gray, Sarr, Gallagher, Danso and Solanke had good games. Some green shoots #THFC
The biggest problem is not being able to drop players that don’t put a shift in.
We have 5 subs to choose from.
