Because it's an xray, only the skeleton is really visible, but they are indeed still alive in there. The doctor is saying, "What do you mean, "they're gonna grow back any minute now"?! Elspeth's expression is nervous and bashful.

Well, if it isn't the consequences of your actions, back to bite you in the butt! Or... possibly explode you in the butt... ⌛
