it takes the effort of sooooooo many people to make games.
nothing comes for free.
the scale of the loss of the past few days is just staggering when I think of it like this π’

I think one of the most beautiful things that happens when you work on a game long enough is that every feature evokes a specific person in your mind.
Particles are someone you started this job with, ocean waves are your deskmate, clouds are your boss, moths flying around are your best man.

The Art Of Packing Data
The packing of data is good practice for many reasons, including disk space and efficient RAM or cache access. If we know the meaning of data we can often narrow down the range and precision, makinβ¦

Hola again graphics peeps! π
I found myself with enough bits and pieces related to text rendering to warrant a write-up. So here it is! π±
osor.io/text
Spiced up with direct vector rendering, sub-pixel anti-aliasing, run-time atlas packing, temporal accumulation, and more!
I hope you enjoy it! π§‘

so interesting!! this was super well made, the music was great. I wonder if the x + + operation has some deeper interpretation or if itβs really just nonsense symbolic manipulation

100% I watched it for the first time on a tiny plane screen, landed, and immediately re-watched it on a bigger screen when I got home. I wish I had seen it on IMAX!!

saturn v at the launch pad at dawn
The 5 F1 engines moments after launch, fully lit.
The Saturn V moments after launch, breaking the sound barrier.
rewatching Apollo 11 (2019) and just awestruck by how beautiful it is. how the hell is there this much high quality 70mm archival footage from 1969?!? the quality of the cinematography, the quaint 60's vibe, the epic shots of the Saturn V; everything is next level good.
