Expertise in modern slavery must not be lost in this reorganisation of police in England & Wales. The current police services have different track records on responding to modern slavery, investigating it, training their officers/staff, listening to survivors and acting in a trauma-informed way...
The new local forces and enhanced national force with a focus on organised crime, including trafficking gangs, must be given adequate resources to develop expertise in modern slavery, advance investigations and invest in independent support services for survivors. www.gov.uk/government/n...
We welcome this pivotal partnership and the vital evidence it will produce as we strive to deliver a standardised, UKโwide model of independent advocacy that strengthens protection and support for adult survivors of modern slavery.

Thank you to MP Sarah Champion for reading and promoting our report. We're proud of this model of independent advocacy and how survivors are shaping it. We're excited to see the model piloted nationally and hope this will be incorporated into the UK's national framework & response to modern slavery.
The IMSA model has been endorsed by the UKโs Independent Anti-Slavery Commissioner, Eleanor Lyons, who is speaking in person at the event. She said previously: โThe IMSAsโ advocacy work for victims and survivors of the most appalling crimes of modern slavery and human trafficking is so important.โ
