God I love my town.
In fact I totally got this joke.
Even if they are, so what? I find that properly treated mental health challenges empower people to set boundaries that really all of us should be setting.
I tried to go there just now and it says “survey closed.” Did it close early?
A friend who works in cybersecurity has an entire presentation on how AI is a tool not for productivity but for surveillance. Once you see it, you can’t unsee it.
I fell for this utterly because what even is satire anymore.
Tomorrow night in Philly! I'll join a panel at the American Philosophical Society to discuss developmental editing: what it is, when it happens in a manuscript workflow, how to find an editor or a client, and advice for writers and editors. Looking forward to it!
He’s not old enough for it yet, but once he’s 5 or so definitely start him on the Junie B. Jones series (Junie is in K when the series starts). My neurospicy kid and I are pretty sure Junie is spicy also, but above all she’s freaking hilarious.
Challenge: Post your last photo taken in DC to show what a hell-hole it is.
So grateful to @scanlon.house.gov for taking the time to talk us Monday night!
Go AU!
I bet he really hates Philly then, we’re full of Italian flags over here.
Can I get in line now to not read any of it?
In which bad use of AI strikes again.
Same, I would have been all over a new Andy Weir.
The last 5 on the list are real, but the rest are not. Regardless, as a freelancer myself, I would have loved this assignment and written it myself. "I didn't know it would appear in the Chicago Sun-Times" is a pretty poor excuse.
The last 5 books appear to be real ("Dandelion Wine" is of course a Bradbury novel), but the rest are an acid trip.
Ew, I don't like it without the hyphen. I always read it wrong as "core searcher."
(As a corollary, I read "coworker" as "cow orker.")
She’s out!! They have released Ozturk from ICE custody!
I got into TJ Klune thanks to a friend who went to that panel at ECCC and now I'm devouring every book by Klune. So rare to have a book make me laugh and weep in the same chapter.
The AP pope looks askance at this heresy
movie u have watched more than six times using gifs
(hard mode no star wars star trek or LOTR)
This was essentially how I got through the more tedious classes in grad school.
It's been a few years since I lived in the Beltway media market, but defense contractor ads on news/traffic/weather radio station WTOP used to mention the "warfighter" all the time. As an editor, I noticed and wondered also.
My kid also gets Social Security survivor benefits from my late husband, who worked in IT and paid into SS from his teen years. The payment makes up for his lost income in helping us stay in our house and keep a roof over my kid's head. Jeanine is willfully malicious here.
We need MSM to start covering this, including the numbers on the YT feeds. What @booker.senate.gov is doing, along with other senators, is so important.
And now other senators are standing to ask questions (that don't require him to yield the floor) to give him a break. I just called @fetterman.senate.gov to ask him to join them. Call your senators and ask them to join Cory Booker!
Y'all, Cory Booker is doing an old-school, Mr.-Smith filibuster on the Senate floor (14 hours and counting) to amplify the crisis in America right now. It's magnificent. We need more of our elected officials to do something like this.

DEI: Gospel imperative or radical leftwing agenda?
What does the Bible really say about diversity, equity and inclusion? While political leaders label DEI a "radical leftist agenda," Jesus' ministry tells a different story. So why do some Christians reject it, asks Emery J. Cummins?
