Everything was flattened. And when I mean flattened, it was hard to even tell that they were buildings there before."

the harder the industry invests on pushing narratives of AI as (only) positive, inevitable, and inherently good for society/business, the more any criticism of this narrative becomes βtoo radicalβ, βunworkableβ and βunrealisticβ
I guess here is the perfect chance to advertise our workshop: aiforpeaceworkshop.github.io.
Iβd appreciate a lot if you could take a look, thanks!
Yep, we fully agree here. π
I was saying today exactly the same. A bunch of **dumb** motherfuckers are destroying the whole world.
Totally reminds me of this movie.

I love this thread. β€οΈπ
Hilde is, as often, spot on.
LLMs can speed-up things, like the tedious work to make a pretty plot in TikZ, but this is not research. It's next to research: a necessary task, but not the thing-in-itself. For those, it's amazing. But for the part that requires critical thinking, not much indeed.
@hildekuehne.bsky.social: "Take off the day ... After proofreading a stack of papers, I realized that there is just no way to speed up research with LLMs ... you can just speed up random nonsense. Problem is that only a few people are able to tell the difference."

I do agree, but there is a nuance: my personal opinion is that for improving it, we should identify the areas that cause only harm and cannot result in anything good (there is already tons of work in this), and ban its use in those areas.
What do you think about that?

There is no best VLM OCR model - rankings can flip completely by document type.
I built ocr-bench: run open OCR models on YOUR documents, get a per-collection leaderboard.

But I didnβt. I just asked for the source. But thanks for engaging!
Do you please have a source?
Cool work! π
We are proud to announce the first CV4Edu workshop at #CVPR2026 in Denver. We are bringing together researchers in AI in education, computer vision, and human-centered AI, and invite you to submit a full, short, or position paper to our workshop.
A lot of people say AI isn't very good for the world and its outputs are routinely unreliable, but these haters fail to see how it's revolutionizing how we incinerate schoolchildren.
