Also I do enjoy 5e here and there nowadays but not sure why they even made a draft/demo of sorts with it for Neopets, a system known for combat
Honestly it's wild that Neopets is getting a TTRPG and one of the playtests posted have basically implied sex but also a murder some bandits in the forest style scenario and if I recall some drug reference.

Great video! And yeah the whole darkvision rant is something I wholeheartedly agree with honestly, honestly I have to run stuff RAW with vision just to enforce the fear of the darkness in a dungeon. Dim light gives disadvantage on Perception (including passive).
Shadowdark does a good job though.

This video also really, REALLY ignores the growing queer youth population, like God...You think by someone talking to industry people would also talk to other people beside those in the OSR and d20 Dragon Game genre.

Like are we literally forgetting about the TTRPG landscape? Fabula Ultima? Hell Mausritter isn't even a very dark and gritty game and it's #OSR with its rule principals, same with Draw Steel.
I don't mind dark nor gritty, but his talking points remind me of the "Anti-Woke" grifters and their slop.
He really talked down on cozy games, saying that DND will probably need to go back to an 80's and 90's style of gritty and machismo, or at least safe dark fantasy like Dark Crystal of Labyrinth. As well talking about alienating male gamers for Gen Z female gamers and ugh
Was watching the new Baron video about predicting the #ttrpg landscape up to 2035, and ofc with #DND. It's another doom and gloom DND video, with a piece of AI slop (and who knows of others) that barks GamerGate talking points as if it was 2015 all over again.
So @xptolevel3.bsky.social made a new video and behold the person who used AI-Generated "art" as background turns out to have manipulated and even scammed YouTubers, I had the gut feeling that a game with barely previews and use of AI would end like this.

Perhaps it could be like Nimle, fast and tactical with a focus on spaces/grids, with some sort of narrative prompt with action rolls like instead of 1d20 for skills, make em 2d10 (One is Hope, one is Fear), with the aesthetic and level cap of 1 to 10 like Shadowdark.
Could be an interesting combo!
