I would add that it's very important to build your game in a way that it's cuttable. If all of your content and features are extremely linked to each other, the cuttable amount can be very low without changing the whole project. Go for a small core game with many independent features that can scale.

Baldur's Gate 3 puts in place this miracle of hiding a huge content rich level behind a door you could have easily missed.
How can they safely work so much on content players can miss so easily?
It definitely gives this game a feeling of love and polish that is extremely enjoyable!
