I have a Sitka West Coast-Style IPA from Proclamation Ale Company in Exeter, RI. I'm trying to pick 2 WCIPAs to send to my friend in CA at his request. This ain't making the cut because it has this cloying stale orange flavor that takes it over. Sorry, this just isn't a WCIPA! #BeerSky #BskyBeer
Some people complain about a "cough syrup" vibe, but I don't mind it!
I've got a "modern West-Coast IPA" called West Ghost from Sierra Nevada. I don't know what constitutes "modern", exactly, but I'll say this ale doesn't sell out totally to the hops; the malt character remains important. But that's a bit more like a "throwback", don't you think? #BeerSky #BskyBeer
I've got a Road 2 Ruin DIPA from Two Roads Brewing Company (Stratford, CT). It is quite hoppy, as they say, but to me that's overshadowed by a nagging citrus that has a "canned"/oxidized flavor to it. I'm usually pretty diplomatic, but I must say I don't like this very much. #BeerSky #BskyBeer
I'm trying to figure out a way to get up there, too. Someone told me there are good hikes in the area. So hike -> beer sounds like a great format
Are you in New England?
Sounds pretty awesome! I like when the cherry essence a la kriek becomes part of things.
Whoa, a reserve-type brew from Equilibrium. Can't imagine that wouldn't be very good.
I have Hanse Keller Pils from Schilling Beer Co. (Littleton, NH). It has a Czech-ish basis but itβs hopped up a little more to give it some zip. I like this a lot. Schilling can take a classic style and put their own little stamp on it. I continue to be a fan of that brewery. #BeerSky #BskyBeer
I remember Griffin Claw for their Sin Repent Repeat PΔ czki (Polish jelly donut) Stout, which is only available in the winter. I had some last January and thought it was very good.
The rabbit seems a bit taken aback by it π
Brew #2 my friend in CA mailed me: Juice Press Hazy IPA (Burgeon Beer Co., Carlsbad CA). Very fruit-forward with a little bitterness, but not much of an earthy/solventy component, which to me makes it a "hazy" rather than a "NE" IPA. But the fruit's fresh, so it's a tasty brew. #BeerSky #BskyBeer
holy cow
Aha, there it is!
OK, so no 120 Minute even at the taproom. I don't feel too bad that I can't find that then.
Oh wow, my daughter and her boyfriend are going to Malta when her semester is over! Any must-see or must-do things so far?
Oh! I haven't seen that yet, but when I do, I'm gettin' it!
OK, how do I not see that here in Massachusetts?? I would like to try that!
My friend from CA sent me 2 beers, and here's #1: Diamond Dust Murky IPA from Pure Project (San Diego, CA). A rare NEIPA from outside NE/NY that is actually properly done! Non-caricatured fruit, creaminess, nice earthiness. Yes, it checks all the boxes, and it's pretty good! #BeerSky #BskyBeer
Ooo, I have one of those in my refrigerator. I'll post it when it gets randomly selected!
I visited Aeronaut Brewing Co. (Somerville MA) this evening. Their mixed (yeast and bacteria)-fermentation ales are really interesting! Pictured here are Superdelic Relic Mixed Fermentation Ale and Extra Hour Robust Porter. The star for me overall was Cocoa Sutra Milk Stout. #BeerSky #BskyBeer
Oh, hang on - that's at Carolina? Looks eerily similar to Little Caesars Arena in Detroit
I had a very similar seat to yours for Michigan vs. Michigan State on Feb. 7. It's a pretty good hockey arena.
Rrrg, why couldn't it be a 16-oz. can?
I've got a Czechvar Lager (BudΔjovickΓ½ Budvar Brewery, Czech Republic). Never had one before! Itβs not unlike a German lager, but a little creamier, maybe, for lack of a better word. Itβs very good! Now my question is β why, why, why, does anyone drink American lagers? Why?? #BeerSky #BskyBeer
I had heard that, like his GAA is 5.5 or something. He's just very streaky. He'll have very good stretches, too. Skinner has done all right in Pittsburgh so far, GAA 2.7.
We did beat the Devils 4-1 yesterday, so we seem OK so far. Sometimes this is an opportunity for others to step up.
Hey, same to you!
Here's Dubliners, a very flavorful stout from Lamplighter Brewing Co. (Cambridge MA). The chocolate, coffee, and caramel flavors are nice, and it's also hopped up just enough to bring those out and give it a little zip. It almost seems like it has a certain saltiness to it. #BeerSky #BskyBeer
