The rise of the far right is not an abstract subject. I will be unemployed fairly soon, then my visa expires. I'm unwelcome here and (professionally) useless in Brazil.
I try not to succumb in despair, but I've been failing...
That is, bringing the reservoirs to the conversation in a moment of crisis seems not to be ideal. Putting sloth (an endangered animal), not the biting midges, in evidence might be irresponsible to say the least...
I really hope Brazilian health authorities do not adopt the name "sloth fever" to refer to #OropoucheFever.
Hope the slaughtering of monkeys during the recent yellow fever crisis has taught us that the distinction between vector and reservoir needs to be done cautiously.
