No problem with players grumbling about media coverage, because we are never above criticism. There’s a local podcaster (not a journalist, but thinks he is) who hates Podz. This kind of behavior is unprofessional and should absolutley be put on blast. Players lump all the writers/voices together 😩

Media are not invited to the real stuff because our videos and stories would give the team’s plays or defensive strategies away. The part of practice we see is free throws and individual shooting drills, or light group work for the guards or centers, for example.

Regarding Russ and athletes asking, “Are you in film study? Are you at practice?”

Media are not allowed in those spaces! If a team invited us to film study or the *real parts of practice that are closed to us, I would be there in a heartbeat.

Thanks for all these thoughts, I agree that two, three, four things that can be true at once because one person’s experience stripping might not be the same as someone else’s. Same for the patrons who go there and how they view the dancers. And the culture.

There are no “distractions.” Life doesn’t come at us one event at a time on a conveyor belt. The bad stuff happens all the time inflicted by the bad people. Anytime I hear someone say it’s a distraction, I want to point a laser pointer at a wall for them to get some cat exercise.
