Heavenly played a great set, as you'd expect. Beforehand I saw that there was a wide range of nationalities there who I guess mainly travelled from overseas rather than being resident in London.
There were a few younger folk in the audience too (it was open to 14-18s) who hopefully were inspired

The Lexington in north London is a favourite gig venue of mine. On Sunday it hosted a sell out @skepwax.bsky.social matinee double bill with Heavenly showcasing their new album supported by the Cords
I'd not seen the Cords before but they were everything I expected them to be. Jangly pop at its best

He scored an own goal from about 40 yards against Tranmere in 1982-3. I think it was a volleyed back pass that sailed over the keeper's head.

I can spot a couple of women down the front but not many U18s around.

Probably less counterfeit gear on sale in the car boot than there were fake footballers on the pitch yesterday.

Everton probably produced the best programme of that era. It was informative and also had a lot more photos than was usually the case back then.

Someone gave me approx 200 Everton programmes in the early 70s but apparently they couldn't fit in the removals van when we moved house so were binned.

Growing up there weren't many female MPs so I've been thinking who was the first one I fancied.

Edwina did a speech for a largely male audience of undergraduates and spent the whole event flirting with us. She won me over although I would obviously never vote for her party.

Excuse me. Tranmere only applied for reelection on three occasions.

I won 100 bottles of (out of date) beer in a raffle at the Arrowe Park Hotel in Birkenhead 30 odd years ago.

I ended up with a lot less than that by the time I got back to my parents as I needed help to carry the boxes and obviously my mates wanted some of the beer in return.

I'm assuming that Arrowe Park roundabout was a terminus for buses at some point? Otherwise that bus shelter always seemed on the grandiose side.

A couple of days after the Referendum a bloke told me that he voted for Brexit so he could buy New Zealand butter again rather than Danish.

I'm pleased that the Nottingham show has sold out, less so that I missed out on a ticket!

If the weather's ok I might take a stepladder along and try to listen through a window.

In one of my first jobs, one of the managers in the office was a bloke in his early 60s. At lunchtime his secretary, aged 21, would often sit on his knee and they'd have a cuddle.

Most of my colleagues thought it was normal behaviour.

In the 70s on a Sunday afternoon we'd often take the train from Hamilton Square to Central then visit the sites(museums, bucket fountains etc)

We'd get the ferry back but not before getting a doughnut at the Pier Head

I preferred it when it was a low tide so the walk to the landing stage was steep

I saw a recipe recently where someone complained that it was inedible after adding a large handful of coriander. They were American and they'd assumed it meant coriander seeds, as they call the leaves cilantro.

May '91. On the M1 in going to watch Tranmere at Brentford in the play-offs. Blue & white scarf on the back shelf

Car pulls up alongside. Bloke gesticulates to me. I wind my window down. "Are you a City fan?", he asks. I reply I'm a Tranmere fan. Good luck he says. It was Alex "Hurricane" Higgins

This time 13 years ago we were dreaming of playing in the Championship. Two and half seasons later we were relegated to the National League. The wheels can come off very quickly.

Looking at that England team there must have been a few who thought they had a good chance of playing at the World Cup but were subsequently overlooked.

Alan Hinton is someone who is usually associated with great success at Derby yet his short international career preceded that.

Like yourself, I'm not into modern professional wrestling(the USA type) but from the 1960s to 80s the UK had its own version with a huge following. It was included in sports programmes so you were invited to suspend disbelief for 40 min every Saturday

This book is worth a look tinyurl.com/4prd29k2

Although the FA Cup isn't quite what it was, I do love the 3rd round draw.

When Derby v Leeds was drawn I couldn't help thinking that'd be a fantastic tie if Derby still played at the BBG.

Great gig last night at the Lexington. It was Tulpa's album launch and they went down a storm. A really impressive band.

Excellent support from @skepwax.bsky.social label mates Sassyhiya plus The Early Mornings, who I also enjoyed.

Nice to have a brief chat with Amelia & Rob before the gig.

Home made Spanish tortilla that I had for lunch today instead of processed food.

I enjoyed the phone-in on processed foods.

I had been planning on nipping down the road to ASDA for a couple of jumbo sausage rolls.

Instead I made a Spanish tortilla. Not overly healthy but at least I knew what was in it.

Looking at that team, nine of them made a massive amount of appearances for Everton. Trebilcock and Hunt, probably fewer than 40 combined. Both famous, though, as part of the club's history for very different reasons.

When I had a new fitted kitchen some years ago I thought it was posh to have downlights. (I know everyone has them these days)
Over the years lamps have failed,to the point that it was so dark I risked severing my fingers when using the chopping board. At that point I made a trip to B&M for new ones
