I have no idea if Amorim does it but I think this improvement and suffering is inevitable regardless of coach. The team needs a full performance rebuild from the academy to first team, shifting to a progressive approach and modern analysis. The suffering is inevitable

I mean, I think the entire season is evidence it’s working, despite disappointment in a few matches. The team Amorim inherited a year ago was playing bottom half football for over a year. Now the team is playing comfortably top half football

Shaw has been fine in this position all season, and Amorim said it was to manage his fitness. Heaven, I guess you could play Yoro but that has nothing to do with back 3 vs back 4 and Heaven was good today

Do these players, set up to play to their strengths, win at Anfield? It’s foolish to look at league seasons as a series of individual matches. Even the greatest teams lose stupid games, it’s not a barometer of quality

Curious what you mean by regression to the old system because this is by and large the system that has been played all season and the results have by and large been good relative to squad quality in my view

Who are the players all over the pitch who are out of position? Besides Dorgu and Dalot I don’t even think it’s arguable that others played out of position

United are 6th in the league behind City Liverpool Chelsea Arsenal and Villa (who have been super lucky) so I’m not sure your perception of the team’s quality vs results is the same as mine tbh. 4 teams in the entire league “win more often than not”

You can look at a season as a sequence of cup finals or look at the bigger picture. I’d argue we should have lost *last* game but we won it

I'm not a huge believer in mid-season sackings unless: a) highly coveted coach becomes available mid-season, b) team is untenably underperforming. Neither is true. Amorim will be coach unless/until this is a bottom half team or United sign better players (midfielders especially) but don't get better

Yep. I also just think that... all coaches are prone to odd decisions/selections. It's part of being a coach. It just looks worse when you're choosing between bad players

United are like the 7-8th best team in the PL with the 7-8th best squad and sit 6th. 4 pts off 2nd, 10 clear of 18th. By most bottom line metrics (expected/actual GD and Pts) they are projected +15-20 pts and +6-10 league positions on last year. I don't get the hate. The team is fine. Change my view
