This is a chilling crime. A shame on our country. The Iranian ship was unarmed. The US knew this. The sailors were murdered by our navy, and the survivors were left to die at sea.

SCOOP — Body camera footage obtained as a result of my lawsuit against the DC Metropolitan PD confirms DOGE and the Trump administration openly admitted they were entering private property when they raided the building on March 17, 2025. That didn't stop MPD from breaking down the doors.
My report:
"No stupid rules of engagement." — Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, March 2, 2026
"The strike would rank among the worst cases of civilian casualties in decades of U.S. conflicts in the Middle East." — Reuters, March 5, 2026
If you vote for the new $50 billion supplemental appropriations package, you are voting to force us to pay for more of this.
Trump on terrorist attacks in America: “Like I said, some people will die. When you go to war, some people will die."
Canada is much smaller than the US, but Indonesia's population is like 280+ million people. I think an American culture that is actively anti-immigrant and encourages people to own guns "to protect themselves and their lived ones" relies on, and often encourages, a mass distrust of fellow citizens.
This is our shame, my fellow Americans. And our crime. We're making the lives of millions of everyday people miserable -- for no good reason.
The Constitution makes it clear that only Congress can declare war, but President Trump seems to think that doesn't apply to him.
Tell Congress to stop his unconstitutional war with Iran before more people are killed.
A US submarine sinking a lonely, dinky Iranian surface ship an ocean away from the theater of the main conflict—and 9000
miles from North America—makes it pretty clear the US is fighting a general war, without the declaration required by the Constitution. www.reuters.com/world/asia-p...
Emancipated woman from Charlottesville, Virginia, recalls the Marc 1865 arrival of Union troops, and how the soldiers commandeered kegs of whiskey.
Emancipated woman from Virginia recalls the March 1865 arrival of Union troops, and how her formerly enslaved family celebrated by singing extemporaneous songs and dancing once they learned of their liberation: “Stomp down freedom today!”
March 3-6, 1865: Federal troops defeated Confederate units in Waynesboro, Virginia, and continued marching east through thick mud. When Union forces arrived in Albemarle County and Charlottesville, Virginia, liberated slaves rejoiced.
The cancellation of a nationwide USDA research project leaves local farms like Bellair in limbo, waiting to learn whether they'll receive the full funding they were promised.
Trump/Hegseth are hell bent on exhausting the last stockpiles of munitions we have left with no real ability to scale up production to meet demand.
Either 2 things happen, deescalation or it escalates to tactical nuclear weapons. I pray to god it's not the latter.

Important, unsettling point from @gregsargent.bsky.social I want to highlight:
Private companies profit from mass deportations. The arms buildup and concentration camp-like warehouse system makes people money and creates jobs. They’ll lobby to keep it.
Strong case for dismantling, not reforming.
This is deeply moving. Rümeysa Öztürk, who has experience as a child development scientist and as a former detainee, shares her fears about the damage immigration enforcement and detention is doing to kids. Via @aclu.org www.aclu.org/news/immigra...
While Trump takes the podium, we’re centering the people living the consequences of his agenda: families, workers, immigrants, young people fighting for their future.

For the first time since @projectsaltbox.bsky.social launched their DHS warehouse acquisition tracker, the number of canceled sales is higher than any of the other warehouse-related figures. We've reached a tipping point, folks.

NEW: The USPS changed its rules on how it postmarks ballots.
This may affect elections at every stage at which there's a mail deadline.
An underplayed one: VOTER REGISTRATION.
Many voters who send in their registration forms by mail could be postmarked late, missing out without realizing it.
People are uniting together, uplifting their shared values to welcome people and keep everyone safe, calling on businesses to take a stand, and demanding ICE out of their communities.
🔗Learn how to fight back against detention warehouses in our new warehouse toolkit: bit.ly/noicewarehouse
The threat of detention warehouses harkens back to one of our most shameful periods as a nation, when warehouses were used for Japanese American incarceration in the 1940s, which caused immense suffering and generational trauma. It was wrong then and it is wrong now.
The floor plan for the planned ICE concentration camp in Social Circle, Georgia:
Me too. It only just melted here!
I hope New Yorkers will challenge Mamdani about this. Too often, people feel they need to be absolutely for or against a politician — ignoring their missteps or throwing them out with the bathwater. You can like and/or believe in someone and still challenge them to deliver on their promises.
3.8 million YOUTUBE views already, plus video clips spreading thru every platform like a tsunami, plus every main stream media outlet talking about how Colbert’s interview of @jamestalarico.bsky.social was censored…
In one day, Trump, Carr’s FCC and CBS have made James Talarico nationally famous.
We are a nation in which thousands of Black people were "legally" kidnapped with the assistance of the federal government & sent back into slavery.
We are also a nation in which thousands of white & Black people organized in their local communities to try to stop those kidnappings.
"We" are both.
When Americans talk about the question of whether "this is who we are" as a country, it's important to note that the answer will always be multivalent.
Most of the roses for sale in the US are raised in hideous labor and environmental conditions in Colombia and Ecuador before they're loaded onto 747s to fly here. I know because I visited one of the rose plantations/sweatshops for my book Orwell's Roses. Give your love a book or something.
“His last act on this earth, his last thought, was to help this woman,” his father said.
“It’s who he was, every day,” his mother said. “He’s the same Alex he always was.”
Goldman: You said references to ICE as secret police encourages threats. The problem is you have it backwards sir. People are making valid observations about your tactics which are outright fascist. If you don’t want to be called a fascist regime, stop acting like one.
