Of note that several of the women’s roster are still in college and not yet signed (if that’s their plan) to one of the 6 (only 6?!?) PHWL teams - all of the men are signed (meaning paid-because remember the US doesn’t pay our Olympians)

The men’s last gold medal was in 1980 and the one before that was in 1960. So the women have won the same number of gold medals in 28 that it took the men 66 years to do. Of note that the TeamUSA have medaled in every game since the woman’s hockey program started at the Olympics.
“The exact same thing”? No the women did more and better. Frankel had 3 shutouts and the team only allowed 2 goals for the entire tournament compared to the men’s 9. Additionally, this is both teams 3rd gold medal, of note that they didn’t have a women’s hockey program at the Olympics until 1998.

Bingo. Corporate welfare is the real welfare you should be talking about.
Congresswoman Yassamin Ansari on why Speaker Mike Johnson kicked her out of his office...
Exactly. Show him his post first. Put it up on a screen. Then ask him virtually any question about any word, phrase, or sentence in it.
Unhappily for the tangerine tyrant, Reagan's speech is legit & can be found here, on the Reagan Library's YouTube channel:

If you're a reporter, please stop referring to RFK Jr and his cronies as "vaccine skeptics." They're not skeptical. Skepticism would be fine. Skeptics look at evidence and can be persuaded.
These people are extremist anti-vaccine cranks, and that's how news organizations should describe them.
Pandemics and mass disabling events have historically given rise to fascism.
Why? People are terrified of the disabled.
They don’t want to see or think about it.
Pandemics force them to consider their own mortality.
So when governments start labeling us as “expendable”, folks jump on board.

“I don’t know how to explain to you that you should care about other people” still seems to be a cultural turning point
When are we going to counter the DEI attack with attacking rich white DEI nepo garbage - RFK is a drug addict with no healthcare education, training or background with a brain worm, Trump is a moron game show host- both are famous and well known only because of competent parents or uncles.
Gift article: America has crossed the line into competitive authoritarianism. When citizens must think twice about criticizing or opposing the government because they could credibly face government retribution, they no longer live in a full democracy. www.nytimes.com/2025/05/08/o...
This is the way.
RFK Jr blames diet, lifestyle & vaccines for chronic illness.
Dr Oz says it’s a “patriotic duty” to lead a healthy life & be fit enough to serve in the military.
Neither of them are pushing for Universal Healthcare, basic income, an end to food deserts & inequality, clean water etc.
It’s eugenics
When my toddler’s day care started turning parents away at the door due to staffing shortages, I learned it was owned by private equity — which maximizes enrollment to squeeze profit out of childcare and now owns eight of the 11 largest US day care companies.
3 days ago RFK Jr. told the CDC to stop recommending water fluoridation, claiming it was a neurotoxin (this is a lie).
Turns out he also just eliminated the CDC’s entire Lead Program, and now lead poisoned children in Milwaukee are just on their own. Lead IS a neurotoxin and harms brain development
I hear people all around me saying, “They are going to crash the economy. Surely they don’t mean to crash the economy.”
I beg to differ. This is curated failure. open.substack.com/pub/jesspipe...
Missed this, from @olliemilman.bsky.social, when it came out last week. It's a story that should be getting more attention, for all sorts of reasons, including the fact that the USDA is now crippled by cuts.
“Everyone knew the river was polluted, but nobody much cared. If anything, it was a badge of honor. As David Newton writes in Chemistry of the Environment, ‘Fundamentally this level of environmental degradation was accepted as a sign of success.’”
