Interest rates are still below the 2007 level, but much higher than recent lows.
CBO significantly raised its projections of the interest rate the government pays on its debt. This is a key driver of debt/gdp sustainability.
It also means higher interest rates on credit card debt, auto loans, mortgages, etc. And it means higher prices, since business investments cost more.
Whoa, did not know you could write a FUN story about CBO gamesmanship

Rs wrote a tax bill that costs $3.9T. $4.8T in cuts - $1T in offsets (rounding).
but they turned off a lot of stuff early to make the costs look artificially small - even tho theyβll want to extend it.
if they extend the expiring provisions, itβs $5.3T in costs ($6.3T in cuts - $1T in offsets).
