Using your TMT analysis example is essentially how I (and essentially our lab at @cellbiol-mrclmb.bsky.social ) got into proteomics analysis in 2019-2020, which has kind of now become my main career since 2023, so I'm really looking forward to reading this. Thank you so much!

Cool! Last time I went to @intp-science.bsky.social which is close to Perpignan/Barcelona I was supposed to fly from STN (£20 vs £200 train when I looked in advance) but Stansted had an IT failure when I arrived, so instead of q'ing I turned around and went to London to catch a Eurostar :)

I've really enjoyed the facilities day @cruk-cityoflondon.bsky.social and all the interactive discussions! Again, I've just started the job, and it's my first one in a core facility/STP, but that made it even more interesting for me to engage in this, learn more, and meet great colleagues

And now #EuPA2025 too.. still unsure whether this was this the worst or the best month to start a new proteomics job!

Just saw this pop up @royalsociety.org - royalsociety.org/science-even.... I often don't feel comfortable dwelling on scientists' bios, but that seems to be part of this talk. Coincidence (or synchronicity?) that it came up 1d after I posted the below, & that Ben works at @rosfrankinst.bsky.social ?

I was also really in a "preaching to the choir" situation when Ben talked about what Crick meant by central dogma, and why we shouldn't just do RNA-seq or even chase protein numbers in omics. So far this seems to be a pretty solid unifying theme of my scientific career...

Really enjoyed the talk from Ben @bendavisgroup.bsky.social yesterday at @cruk-cityoflondon.bsky.social hosted by @silviasurinova.bsky.social. I'm still v new here at UCL but it was great to hear how cool chemistry can be applied to bio questions + chat about innovation, proteomics & weird PTMs!

Curious what is the distribution of downloads/user? I imagine there are people whose projects are based on existing datasets, who may download 1 in 4 or 1 in 10, and many who go looking for something specific and download one ever. Per dataset not sure, would be happy to hear if it's >1 in 100 :)

Thanks so much for the tips! Unfortunately motivating myself and prioritising watching something online is much harder than attending an exciting event with cool people in a new place, but still good to keep in mind. An alternative is just following you here I guess! 😀

First time I'm "officially" #TeamMassSpec during a big mass spec/proteomics conference but not actually there: #ASMS2025 hasn't even properly started yet, and I'm already having FOMO looking at BlueSky this morning - assuming that's normal..?

Communities and hidden extroverts I should really look into this properly, but I bet that being part of a community, i.e. having regular contact and some common activities and goals with like-minded people, scores very highly in hu…

I haven't been following the US closely, but looking for a dataset to use in a kids science camp just stumbled upon this. I don't have a stake or even a strong opinion in trans debate but find it harrowing. Similarly to UK Tory govt some time ago declaring Rwanda safe. War is peace, hate is love?

Within the last 7 days: another great stay @intp-science.bsky.social incl. an unplanned mini-eurotrip to get there, a housewarming & eurovision party, and first day on the new job @ucl.ac.uk @cruk-cityoflondon.bsky.social . Life's pretty exciting right now!

Really enjoyed the event by @engbioirc.bsky.social tonight, particularly the talk from Irina Borodina from DTU-Biosustain: esp. the perfect mix between #cellag & #TeamMassSpec - using GC-O where you can apparently smell your MS peaks (!) to optimise flavour profile of mycoprotein (yeast-based meat)

(1) make it easier to find collaborators and cool opportunities, esp. in proteomics and cell ag
(2) work more on science outreach aspects and advertise it
(3) write more blog-style primarily for myself
any feedback and suggestions are very welcome!
