US & Israel doubling even the extreme bombing of the early Gaza campaign.

US & Israel doubling even the extreme bombing of the early Gaza campaign.
This is not only incredibly weak, its false equivalence between Farage and Polanski is dangerous. One of them is a threat to liberal democracy, the other one is not. The text is a prime example of how radical centrism and the profound arrogance of self-declared liberals legitimize the far right
“The drones that hover over the skies of Lebanon…collect large swathes of data — Wi-Fi, IP addresses, phone signals — which are then organized by AI…in what some scholars and activists say amounts to a “digital occupation.” Fascinating by @justinsalhani.bsky.social

‘The nuclear weapon Iran has not yet built functions as a particular kind of object: the impossible threat, always just over the horizon, that justifies everything …. You cannot negotiate away a capability that has not yet come into existence.’

The UK's legal position on the use of its bases in the Middle East is solid with one glaring hole: The US cannot act in collective self-defence with the Gulf States. It is the aggressor. Ergo the UK cannot assist the US in collective self-defence.
They are mainly flinging it at military bases. Maybe telling Trump to stop his war would be more effective in protecting British citizens
Maybe, but Iran is not targeting British civilians
No. Since the US is fighting an illegal war of aggression, the attacks the US makes on Iran from UK bases cannot be regarded as defensive in international law.
No British citizen has been harmed. Intercepting missiles, sure, by that is not the same as helping the US to illegally attack Iran
Not according to the polls. And especially not if this carries on, causes a wider war and global disruption.
The majority of UK voters are now anti-Israel, believe it’s committed genocide, and oppose the UK allowing the USA to use its bases to attack Iran. So the Greens are not so far away from public opinion.
The UK is no longer staying out of it.
Iran is not attacking UK civilians. And if the UK allows the USA to use its bases to attack Iran, legally it is supporting the US aggression. Starmer’s legal justification is fiction,
Keep up. Starmer *was* conflicted, but now he’s resolved that and found a phoney ‘legal’ reason to let Trump use UK bases. He’s getting no thanks from Trump, and losing the little respect he might have gained from those who don’t want war and want him to respect international law.
A very clear explanation of why Starmer’s legal strategy fails.
British voters are not convinced by Starmer’s pivot to giving the US use of UK bases to attack Iraq.

Starmer’s legal fix is phoney: ‘The US is committing an unlawful act of aggression, and the UK cannot aid or assist in its commission. Airstrikes against missile facilities in Iran have been, and will continue to be, an important component of the composite act of aggression.’

The EU abandons international law: ‘Iran’s attacks of a number of countries in the Middle East are inexcusable’, but the US-Israeli attack on Iran, the cause of the conflict, is completely excused.
Important update on escalating extremism of Reform UK
‘How did we arrive at a moment in which imperialist powers that have waged war across the region and enabled Israel’s ongoing genocide in Gaza, can appear as plausible agents of “freedom for Iran?”’
Grateful to @newrepublic.com who asked for my immediate thoughts in Trump’s attack on Iran.
In short, the demand for nuclear weapons is about to go way up. If you do not have nuclear weapons, you are vulnerable.

Prior to Iran attacks, CIA assessed Khamenei would be replaced by hardline IRGC elements if killed

200+ Iranian civilians, 3 US soldiers. It’s called risk-transfer war.
From the far right point of view, it really isn’t important that their vibes match up with the facts. Not that kind of politics.
Fascism, rather
So much for Carney’s ‘rupture’.
The 51st state already, even if not in name.
Trump’s war is good for Putin.
Children massacred in Israeli-US aggression:
“When weapons come from the US, do they strike us more gently than when they come from the regime’s killing machines?”

Another illegal war of aggression. Britain must not give any assistance to either Israel or the USA, e.g. helping them defend against Iranian counterattacks.
Israel launches attack on Iran as explosions heard in Tehran
But it’s there, isn’t it? After almost two and a half years of horror which most voters recognise as genocide, it’s a fundamental background reason why not only Muslims, but also liberal-left white British, have rejected Labour.
