Fight over climate law looms as New York energy costs soar
Broken record here: Energy costs soar because of lack of cheap renewables generation, not because of it.
And no, Iran doesn't help. The answer to fossil price spikes every time a leader blows a fuse? Get off fossil fuels.

Black-and-white photograph of a late-19th-century storefront showing Charles Samuelson standing in the doorway of his confectionery shop in Minneapolis. Produce, soda signs, and hanging bananas surround the entrance, while multilingual signage reflects the Scandinavian immigrant neighborhood.

What looks like a shopfront is also a record of belonging — candy, news, and conversation under one awning.

Well that's about all you can expect for the season, a good way to go out on Senior Night. Great shootout win against Sparty after 3-3 tie. Mooney is fun to watch. #Gophers

Harmonicaland
Product Description Bruce Kurnow is a veteran of all aspects of the music industry. He has been recognized with four Minnesota Music Awards for his harmonica, stringed harp and keyboard work. As a studio musician, he has appeared on over 125 recordings and he has produced 30 solo recordings, mostly of original compositions. Bruce toured the United States and Canada and recorded three albums with the country-rock group Mason Proffit in the early 1970's. (Mason Proffit reunited in 2003 and is touring and recording again.) He has performed with blues legends Mojo Buford (who named him 'Creeper'), John Lee Hooker and Muddy Waters and with groups including Passage, The Doug Maynard Band, Peter Welker's All-Stars and Lorie Line's Pop Chamber Orchestra. Bruce 'Creeper' Kurnow currently resides in the San Francisco Bay area. Reviews of Harmonicaland 'This is Bruce's first CD to exclusively feature the harmonica, and he pulls it off with feel, taste, a strong sense of melody, and a fresh voice.' David Lipkind, The Harmonica Educator 'You might be surprised at how big and multi-colored the harmonica can get in the right hands.' Tony Glover, Blues on Stage 'Bruce Kurnow is a harmonica monster. When the first number begins, you'll think you not only went to Harmonicaland, but died and went to Harmonica Heaven.' Chet Williamson, Rambles Magazine 'If you want to hear what is possible on the harmonica on a CD that doesn't sound like every other harmonica CD, take a listen to Harmonicaland. You'll be glad you did.' Phil Lloyd, American Harmonica Newsmagazine 'Jaw-dropping...a triumph!' Tom Surowicz, Minneapolis Star-Tribune 'Kurnow is a truly talented musician with broad eclectic tastes and abilities. Harmonicaland is another successful effort in Kurnow's long string of eclectic endeavors. It's beautiful and at times haunting. This CD is a definite must for any harmonicaphile.' Toni Radler, Easy Reeding (Hohner Incorporated) 'Bruce certainly can stand out amongst the masters of diatonic just playing blues alone, but it is the ingenuity and genius of the composition and arrangements that make this album a real winner.' Michael Polesky / Owner, Harp-L. Review For the last few weeks I have been listening to Bruce Kurnow's new release "Harmonicaland" which is really a tremendous recording that harmonica enthusiasts will particularly enjoy. There are 12 original pieces by Bruce for harmonica which cover a very wide range of styles. Bruce uses a variety of harmonicas including chordomonicas, harmonetta and his "main axe," diatonic Marine Bands as well as the occasional addition of keyboards and Kaen, described as a "Southeast Asian harmonica" in arrangements that range from solo harmonica to carefully orchestrated multi-harmonica pieces. With the very eclectic choice of pieces this album is a rare example of how wide a range of styles and sounds the harmonica can achieve. Bruce certainly can stand out amongst the masters of diatonic just playing blues alone, but it is the ingenuity and genius of the composition and arrangements that make this album a real winner. It is not just another great player playing great blues, cla! ssical or other style, but a mix of a great player, great compositions and great arrangements that show the instrument off more than the performance and composition that really make this album a winner and worth having in your collection. -- Michael Polesky / Owner, Harp-LOn the surface, an all-harp album sounds like it might get deadly -- Harmonicats, anyone? -- but Kurnow creates a number of different moods with a variety of soundscapes. There's not a lot of pure blues numbers here, but there sure is a hell of a lot of emotional and virtuoso harp, frequently sounding horn or organlike. You might be surprised at how big and multi-colored the harmonica can get in the right hands. -- Tony Glover / Blues on Stage

We do such a shit job at palliative care & end of life in this country. Its all about feeding healthcare beast, taking care of ill-prepared family unable to deal with grief instead of who it should be about, the person dying.

While we're still waiting on answers from the gubmint on 30 more days and what too expect next, the demand for help has not slowed. Please continue helping people. If we don't-this could create a pretty big problem and we'll probably get punished for it if we don't cover it ourselves.

I got an email from our solar folks saying that they’ve worked out some sort of commercial tax credit that makes it so new installations can get close to as good a deal as they could with the old federal tax credit. If you’re local and interested in solar, lmk and I’ll send you a link.

HCMC is only clinic left #Downtown #Minneapolis. North & Allina closed, the only clinics that are left are specialty like OB/GYN, Eye Clinics, ENT, Dental Offices, Physical Therapy. Otherwise you have to go to Park/Nicollet Blaisdell or Fairview at UMN/28th St or go Uptown/E Lake St.

Not-for-profit Mayo Clinic reports record profit last year
Rochester-based health system saw more patient demand and growing philanthropy last year, though it also closed clinics in southern Minnesota.
Remember when the Mayo Clinic fought and successfully killed the nurse staffing bill, with one of the reasons being it would cost them too much money to do so...just asking...
You also save a lot of money by shutting down rural healthcare. www.startribune.com/mayo-clinic-...
