We do such a shit job at palliative care & end of life in this country. Its all about feeding healthcare beast, taking care of ill-prepared family unable to deal with grief instead of who it should be about, the person dying.

If you want to feel very human, become a hospice volunteer. No joke. It’ll teach you a LOT. Whatever I end up doing, I think I will always have 1 foot in hospice because it has changed how I see my life. Everyone’s.
