I saw that on Facebook. What struck me was how he clearly assumed everyone else would be on his side. Like, he couldn't imagine that his fellow Old World fans could possibly think it was unreasonable behavior.

Fun fact: Swash in the context of fighting means the sound of swords clashing. Swashbuckler was a word for a kind of duelist who would strike his or his opponent's shield (buckler) with his sword as a display of braggadocio.

The real problem for them is that without an algorithm they know how to manipulate, they need people to actually seek them out. And they don't have anything most people here are interested in looking for.

To be fair, the first Resident Evil ended with a big action set piece where you blew up the Tyrant with a rocket launcher. It's just that our standards for big action set pieces were lower then.

The problem with it in most books is that you're mostly there for the plot, and infodumps stop the plot dead.

I think it's /possible/, but you'd need the worldbuilding to be the focus, like a travelogue. You'd also need much richer worldbuilding than what Shad had. Not just "ooh, look, my cool magic system," but interesting cultures and people.

Very small correction: Falling to terminal velocity doesn't usually make people pass out. Skydivers do it all the time. You just don't accelerate fast enough to black out.

Otherwise, good video. The book is emblematic of Shad's inability to listen to others for criticism.

It's like research. The point isn't to impress the reader with how well you built your world, it's to make it fill in the story seamlessly.

I've started up a YouTube channel to share some of my thoughts regarding SCP writing. Here's my first video.

My kitten does not understand why I will not let her sit in front of the TV and jump up at the moving things on the screen.

However, if I do not break her of this habit, I do not think it will end well when she is bigger and has more mass.

One of the few exceptions to this is in the case of ablaut reduplication. Short, similar words will often go in order of the vowels, starting with sounds from the front of the mouth, moving back. For example, hip hop, or tic tac toe. Big Bad Wolf breaks the adjective order (size opinion instead of

A painted plastic miniature of a woman in armor holding a sword in a guarded position. The head and hide of a massive bird or griffin has been draped over her shoulder. A golden medallion of a twin-tailed comet holds the hide in place.
