Honestly I think the biggest pain in the ass is trying to make sense of the placement, because, as even the manual I think says, the direction you came from doesn't always lead you back. So like you go west to a room, then go north to go back where you were.

trash that you'll never need, but it helps to have them in one place, and you'll want a lot of light weight and useless crap to use for maze mapping.

I fucked up on milestones, but they could help you to cut down on repetition if you softlock or mess up. Aside from that I always had "Safe" save to act as an achor and "Danger" save acting like a quick save inside the dungeon essentially.

If any of you plan to ever play Zork 1 as well, a few quick recs:
1. Get Trizbort, or any other sort of game dungeon mapping software
2. Have Invisiclues handy, you're not getting through moon logic without it
3. Save a lot, name them in a way you could understand, and make milestone saves.

Loaded save before the end, and I guess they don't penalize you for the number of moves because 702 is way more than you would ideally need, even if it's actually way less than you realistically would do as a new player.

Oh my god, it's finally over. Didn't actually need a walkthrough, because my previous playthrough was already near complete, but I did look up things from Infocom's own hintbook. Zero shame, cause nobody is beating this game on their own without any help without spending hundreds of hours.

Brass bauble has to be the most convoluted treasure in Zork I. Kinda doubt anyone got it without a lot of trial and error, talking to friends, and/or calling the company for hints. And it also gives you the lowest possible point reward (1 for getting, 1 for casing), which I suppose is the joke.

This shit reminds me why I hated the fail state in Ace Attorney. Restart as a punishment doesn't work in these games, you're just forcing me to repeat things that take literally no effort but a decent bit of time.

Yeah I'm pretty sure I'm just softlocked now in Zork cause the candles burn passively and if you go for the crystal skull too late, they become too short for the ritual

Ok I'm discovering some Zork "teleports" around the map that make it a little less evil, but overall the game is still very high on the evil scale.

People hate the 3rd game for various reasons, but I love that first 3 games all have these crazy mixups in terms of tone, objectives, and situations that shift it from just a stealth game to "you're a wicked good thief in a pretty fucked up medieval fantasy place."
