And it really was good fun!
Today is the 150th anniversary of the patenting of the Telephone in 1876 β so, here is our very funny 150th episode of Youβre Dead To Me about the telephoneβs origins
With comedian Catherine Bohart and historian of science Professor @irmorus.bsky.social

Thanks for listening!
Sorry (not sorry)
π
This is wonderful! Huge congrats to your clever young man on his historianβs award π₯
My son got this award at school about talking all about Egyptian technology which he learnt all about from listening to @gregjenner.bsky.social books every night when he goes to bed. Thank you Gregg for helping my boy.
Youβre both very nice! Thank you very much
π
Oh nice pod synergy!
Maybe yours will instead!
We obviously pay our guests on Youβre Dead To Me, and always have done, and I was recently paid to appear on a podcast, so perhaps itβs slowly changing for the better
Me too! Facts4eva
It's on our To Do list! We were planning it, but sadly the academic became unavailable
Thank you!
I'm not sure anyone wants that from me!
Thank you!
I'm not sure my publishers love that argument
It's an interesting problem -- it's so hard to get people to hear about our work, especially since social media algorithms hide our posts from 90% of our followers, that going somewhere with an audience is a huge advantage. But then you've heard the book's content and don't need to buy it!
Thank you... you might have to wait 4 years!
As someone planning my 9th non-fiction book, this is suboptimal news π« www.theguardian.com/books/2025/d...

π¨πNew episode of YOUβRE DEAD TO ME!!
Iβm joined by comedian Sophie Duker and Professor Yang-wen Zheng to learn about the extraordinary life of Chinaβs Empress Dowager Cixi, who clung to power for half a century and was a badass
Listen now on BBC SOUNDS (or wait a month to hear it globally)
This is a chilling crime. A shame on our country. The Iranian ship was unarmed. The US knew this. The sailors were murdered by our navy, and the survivors were left to die at sea.

I donβt want Tottenham Hotspur today
not since Henry VIIIβs wives has a Tudor had such an untimely end at a Palace

I think Spurs are doomed
I can't verify this info is true, but if it is... HOLY SHIT.
Quietly, calmly and forensically, BBC just dismantled the Trump communications shitshow on Iran.
No hyperbole, just laying out an unprecedented military, diplomatic and reputational shambles.
Worth a watch.
