Ongoing public service cutsβand the fear senior officials have about their own job securityβare throwing a wrench into the Liberal governmentβs ability to receive evidence-based and fearless public policy advice, say some public policy experts.

..."ensuring pay is appropriate for top officials" for a City being run like a high-performing company... So does your proposal involve a large salary increase for top officials to match those in the private sector?
Is that slide created by AI? Because it is hard to read.....the line spacing makes no sense.
I appreciate that this article references your TVO article, @jm-mcgrath.bsky.social . Hopefully the province and domestic car manufacturers are thinking about "why would Canadians want to buy these cars" (aside from price), and adapt their businesses to address this currently unmet market demand.
I'm there just for the visualizations www.youtube.com/watch?v=b1b8...
Please explain! What is a meteorologic winter, and why is mm of rain the measurement?
Naive question - does purchases of Canadian assets by foreign entities count as foreign direct investment?
Just thinking of sovereignty implications....
It is March 1st, which means the launch of our very successful Transit Satisfaction survey.
The last survey was powerful in shaping policy, and I expect this one going into a election, and being 'post pandemic' to be even more so. So please share widely.

Really sad to hear that Kichesippi Brewery will be closing. Owner Paul Meek is a Stittsville resident and has given so much back to the community. I'll definitely miss stopping in on my bike rides - right next to the Trans Canada Trail. π

i am thankful that i live & work along the winter-maintained bike paths. Today had to bike from Westboro to the Civic Hospital, and re-learned how awful it is biking on side-streets in the winter, especially during/after snow. It is desperate times when biking on Carling is the best option.
More researchers face consequences for their links to #Epstein. Jack Horner, who was a consultant for the Jurassic park films, is no longer employed at Chapman University. See my story for Nature www.nature.com/articles/d41...
I'm ranking every mall in Metro Vancouver
Every two weeks, Food Court in Session will profile a mall with a podcast and essay
Our first mall is Aberdeen, and we're joined by @bychrischeung.bsky.social
I hope you enjoy yelling about the ranking of your favourite mall, and the project as a whole
2011 for me for those two (+ JJGo) :)
Ottawa councillor announces he will not be running for re-election
Where? Paramount+?
Made it out from 4-5pm. Would give ice conditions a B grade...solid and not too cracked, but pretty bumpy. Ice can definitely use a sweeping.
How were the conditions?
So bright and sunny now!
I'm curious how you came across a 2-week-old article, when the election outcome was determined 9 days ago π
I biked to Bushtukah yesterday to get some inner tubes....yes, to this big outdoors store.....and their three bike racks were buried in snow!! Nowhere to lock up....so I just brought my bike inside. WTF, Bushtukah??
i was thinking this exact thing this morning, as I was biking and a right-turning car was blocking my bikelane - all drivers should be required to spend time as bicyclists, so they can experience what others around them are constantly feeling in terms of poor driver behaviour.
Happy Year of the Horse! π§§π΄
Any thoughts on mandatory voting?
Ontario voter turnout is abysmal. 45% or lower in the last 2 elections.
$350 / month?? π€―
This interaction is a mixing of my worlds in an unexpected way!
"Bruce Fanjoy, the Liberal MP for Carleton, has broken ranks with his party to criticize the federal government's latest return-to-office (RTO) mandate" ...
"There is little to no evidence that a one-size-fits-all RTO policy will improve productivity or service to Canadians," he wrote.
Following my boss outside to continue a conversation about my job performance and trying to act cool when she stops at the spot I buried my favourite bone
oh lovely....maybe that explains why their stock is doing so well the past 12 months...
In what world is it helpful to have political parties leaderless for so long and for the parties to have such long leadership campaigns?? Between the federal NDP and the OLP, it feels like we are in US primary territory.
