Part 2. I have used Genscript for many years for syntheses ranging from 1kb to more than 15kb.
They have always gone out of their way to get it synthesised, even after several attempts. I have tried Twist who are competitive on price but not on their ability to synthesise complex fragments.

Part 1. The price per base also depends on the complexity of the fragment to be synthesised (e.g. repeats) that will increase the final bill.
