This paper, coupled with the Perspective from Neuron, really indicates that our understanding of the immune system on an aging brain could well be entering a new phase - one with lots of great data rather than mainly conjecture.

4/7 By targeting GD3 with immunotherapy in mice, we demonstrated reduced fibrosis (lung, liver) and osteoporosis. These findings open exciting therapeutic avenues for combating aging and its associated diseases.

3/7 SICs are a novel mechanism that allows senescent cells to escape immune clearance by NK cells. GD3 acts as an "invisibility cloak," enabling these cells to persist, to be โ€œtoleratedโ€ by immune system and contribute to age-related diseases.
