University of Leeds UNISON branch didnโt make the 50% turnout in the autumn Higher Education pay ballot. We missed the legal threshold by one vote, so weโre re-balloting to ask again. Ballot papers are being sent out from TODAY and the vote closes Friday 27 March. ๐งต

The University of Leeds branch will request a reballot, and more information will follow about this process. This outcome goes to show that whether itโs a Yes or a No, every single vote counts in our democratic processes.

The 2025/26 Higher Education strike ballot has closed. Our branch is disappointed to announce that we missed the mandate threshold with only 49.96% turnout.
The law requires 50% of branch members to participate in the ballot to secure a mandate, and this time we have fallen short by 1 vote.

Volunteers also needed to leaflet the day before (Fri 14th Nov from 4:30pm, outside of Boots in Albion Street) to raise awareness. Come along for an hour or so if you can.
