I'm not a woman, but I am so happy to have women like you representing our country and speaking truth to power so forcefully and articulately. If only you were leading the House or Senate!
Your tenure as Secretary of Defense is hell for the American people and will continue to be so until you return to your true calling as a tv buffoon
As usual, Susan, you have the sharpest take on this cobbled-together mishmash of justifications
The all-star In Memoriam sequence led by Lauryn Hill was undeniably a musical highlight of this year's Grammys. But in what universe are Ozzy Osborne, Roberta Flack, and D'Angelo more deserving of tributes than Brian Wilson and Sly Stone?
Stand Back! is one of my favorite blues albums. Saw him at a jazz club in Hong Kong quite a few years back
I look forward to your columns every week!
Given his exemplary track record in management and his deep empathy and respect for people of color, Pete Hegseth is the ideal person to take charge of the government in Venezuela, right? If Marco Rubio has to share that responsibility with the former Fox News host, maybe HE will start drinking
I was appalled by the interview with Dear Leader while the Detroit-Washington NFL game was in progress. Kenny Albert and Jonathan Vilma fawned like Cabinet sycophants, even asking him how the country was doing, which allowed him to offer political talking points/lies. Just shameful . . .
don't leave us in suspense, what happened?
"Democracy Dies in Darkness" indeedβit's getting pretty dark, Mr. Bezos, when wack-job former talk show hosts begin to grace your op ed pages

Robert Christgau has been trying for decades to make us all Mekons fans, but I never quite got on that bus. This TDC makes me begin to see the lightβbut I'd like their recordings a lot more if Sally Timms took a bigger share of the lead vocals . . .
you are one of the best commentators anywhere, and I hope you find a more hospitable environment than the once great, now decrepit Washington Post

With some trepidation, I finally watched A Complete Unknown, the Bob Dylan biopic. I think Timothee Chalamet does an amazing job of capturing Dylan's voice, both spoken and sung, and the performances, both real and imagined, are compelling. Edward Norton is also excellent as Pete Seeger
Willie Collins showed us that documentary in his class on Soul Music back in my undergraduate days, and it left a really strong impression on me. And what a great title!
I agree, he was great in The Doors, right up there with Jamie Fox in Ray. And it was a much harder job to rehabilitate Jim Morrison, whose descent into buffoonery had overshadowed the band's initial blazing talent and originality
This is offensive to bats. White nationalists' droppings are full of toxins and stink up the whole room
And a very happy new year to you, Jeff!
Ike and Tina Turner, "Proud Mary." Tina's spoken intro: "I think you might like to hear something from us nice and easy, but . . . we never, ever do nothing nice and easy; we always do it nice and rough." Two verses nice and easy, song slows to a stop, and . . . boom!
Congratulations to Kumu Hula Vicky Holt Takamine. It is wonderful to see her recognized for all she has done for Hawaiian dance and culture
