Canada is everything.
I lived in the 9th for 21 years. I marched shoulder to shoulder with Jan in many parades and protests. She's a phenomenal human who has done amazing work. AND it's well past the time for a change. I'm not in Illinois anymore, but wish you the best of luck. Thanks for showing others how it's done. 💖
If you're trans and worried about the current legal landscape, I do free "know your rights" trainings. I can only give legal advice in Illinois, but I can give an informational training to your trans group anywhere in the US, and it's free. Email me at sheryl@weikallaw.com.
The administration is removing phone support for Soc Security recipients. Making it more difficult for seniors to get their checks. It’s a back door way to cut SS benefits. Horrific.
If you know anyone who is impacted, please help them get online to get their benefits approved

Don’t let them forget it. No peace for them.
I find "listen to the women" excellent advice in this specific case and... in life in general. ♀️

What a different world we could have.
This Sunday, the whole country needs to spring forward from 1939.
Anybody who has ever experienced bullying or domestic violence knows exactly what happened today.
I am traveling to Melbourne (FL), Orlando, and Miami for 10 days this month.
I want to know:
✨️ what Black owned businesses to buy from
✨️what LGBTQIA+ businesses to buy from
I want to spend my time and money wisely. Send me recommendations please!
I'm so glad to be in Canada. 🇨🇦 It's wonderful watching a country trying to figure out how to come together, even when they don't all agree.
🎯🎯🎯
Any Canadian thinking that we, as Canadians, would be better off being the 51st state is off their rocker.

I love this so much!
At the inauguration, Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson wore a distinctive collar adorned with cowrie shells, which are believed to offer protection from evil in African traditions.
This choice mirrors the late Justice Ginsburg’s practice of using collars to convey a message.
Not to minimize any of the horrific actions taken just in the last 24 hours AT ALL... I woke up this morning with a feeling that was all too familiar. I was witness to a gang assault on several women at a fraternity party in college that I felt helpless to stop. I refuse to feel helpless ever again.
OMG! Brilliant!!!!! 😂😂😂
It feels like those who are having this reaction are coming from a place of privilege. It is going to be bad. Horrible. Beyond what most of us have experienced before. And all is NOT lost. Collective healing and liberation are absolutely worth fighting for.
I'm tired of the word resilient. It makes me feel like I have to keep pushing. Instead, I'm focusing on protecting my peace, which allows me to return to hope, joy, and love.
Feeling overwhelmed? I see you. Me too.
Here’s what’s helping me stay centered:
1. Prioritize your well-being.
2. Lean into your community.
3. Protect your peace fiercely.
4. Give back only when ready.
Your joy and hope are yours to keep.
Wishing you calm in the chaos and a steady heart.
Embracing our mistakes and stepping out of that proving energy is one way we can actively reclaim our power and our peace.
Mistakes aren’t failures—they’re proof you’re trying, evolving, and moving forward. Owning them is where the power lies.
Too many people are trying to take away our power in so many ways. I think it's really important that we learn to hold onto ourselves in a way that doesn't allow that to happen.
Mind you... I was coming from practicing law, where mistakes were NOT embraced, this was a huge shift.
At the school, I was encouraged to step into curiosity, even as a leader. I was able to let go of proving energy, giving me space to grow. Mistakes stopped being shameful.
I’m really tired of proving energy.
When I worked at a Montessori school, I was so grateful for the opportunity to work in a mistake-making place. Mistakes weren’t punished or shamed—they were embraced as part of learning and growth. It was revolutionary (but it shouldn't have been).

Oh and fuck every Democrat who didn't IMMEDIATELY release a statement saying "trans women are women and we will protect our colleague" because as much as I hate and disagree with what McBride did, she only did so because every cis Democrat, all of them, EVERY SINGLE ONE, let her down.
I keep thinking about those congresspeople kneeling in the rotunda wearing kente cloth scarves, very performative. There has been no loud, visible, unified support for Sarah McBride from the democrats. It’s a real disgrace. That is your colleague! They are bullying her in your faces. And silence!
It's trans day of remembrance where we remember all of our siblings we've lost this year to violence and hate. We know we've lost at least 350 trans and nonbinary people have been murdered in the last year.
We honor the dead and fight like hell for the living.
OMG! I thought it was just me?! Thank you for saying this.
