That being said, I can’t wait to start yapping about a book I just read that’s coming winter 2026…

I love working in publishing because I get to read books a year before they come out. I hate working in publishing because I can’t talk to my friends about the books I read a year before they come out.

I know I’m like a million years late but I finished Just Kids by Patti Smith a few days ago and bawled my eyes out??? I can’t remember the last time a book made me cry that much

My dear friend Mia’s book came out today! FRAGMENTS OF WASTED DEVOTION is raw and written with gorgeous fervor. Getting to read this early was a gift.

It’s gotten amazing praise, and I can’t wait for the world to read it.

(Available to order on Ingram and quiltedpress.com)

Every time I read about banning books, I think of this:

Reading a book with a gay character will not make you gay any more than reading a book about Einstein will make you a genius.
If you're afraid that books might change someone's thinking, you're not afraid of books β€” you're afraid of thinking.

Holiday breaks are for rereading your comfort essay collection alongside matching pillows.

Btwβ€”it does say something about me that I’ll Tell You in Person by ChloΓ© Caldwell is my comfort read. Nothing good, but something!

Absolutely! I also don’t like how people feel like they’re β€œnot reading enough” because they aren’t reading as much as other peopleβ€”it’s not a competition!

In: reading as an act of self-care

Out: reading as a competitive sport

(I could write an essay on the Goodreads-ification of reading like…do not get me started)
