Such an amazing day yesterday, my first student defended her PhD thesis beautifully. Congratulations Dr. Hanna Doh @hannadoh.bsky.social !!!
This is pretty cool...
Oh the irony... The lead pic from a lab and the whole institution they just gave stop work orders.. though I do love organoids so yay for that... www.nih.gov/news-events/...
So so happy for you, especially in these times of frequent gloom, this is such great news, makes me very happy! Go Violet!

Stand up for science Boston!!!
We (me and lab) will be showing up in Boston, come join tomorrow Friday at Boston Common 12pm if you care about the future of science and in our case cancer research!!!
I do agree that the IDCs should be visited on regular intervals and reviewed and negotiated, but this should be done in a rational, meaningful and measured way.
Also will pay for the actual space where you sit down to eat, the heating, the toilet, the soap in the toilet, the forks, knives and so forth... Also someone making sure standards are followed and not every diner gets food poisoning...

There are legit criticisms of IDCs and how they are negotiated, but cutting infrastructural and administrative support to 1/4-1/6 of what it was overnight is a devastating assault on universities and US biomedical research.

Happy holidays from our labs to yours, and we were happily surprised by the snow as well (and the gigantic snow men at HMS)!!!
Our VERY detailed protocol of generating HR+ breast cancer organoids and matching CAFs is out: bio-protocol.org/e5160
This is a follow-up to @jennyhogstrom.bsky.social last paper, just with more details to help everyone generate these organoid CAF co-cultured and to move cancer research forward!
First post ever here, to celebrate my amazing lab and their recent achievements!
