You can tell from the hearings who is valued and who isn’t. Noem was accused (and guilty) of having ICE arrest American citizens as the worst crime. Not much mention made of non-citizens, including small children, because apparently, non-citizens don’t matter, despite their suffering.

Did you know the crew of the Catalina that spotted Nagumo’s fleet off Ceylon was Canadian? They were shot down by Zeros but got the message to Colombo first. Six crew members survived and became POWs. The pilot will be the subject of my MA thesis.
