Argh, had a single pipit call like that early on over Garden Drove on 14th, could easily have been that bird. Well done, it's the place to be in mid October!

I think it is now lost from the 5km radius of my Baldock house, while there were 5-10 pairs in 2020. But some in 2020 were 'mixed singers', already growing up with more chiff friends than other willows. Now scarce passage (one zipped through the garden this morning).

Today was my 3,000th consecutive day of recording my birding on eBird. Just the best way to document sightings. Also the only way I can figure out what I was doing in 2017. A Blackcap was properly singing in the garden this morning, but no sign of my irregular hawfinch teaser.

I am delighted to share my first PhD paper! We found that Key Biodiversity Areas cover the distributions of the world’s terrestrial birds excellently, representing 99.7%. #KBAs are incredibly useful for conservation planning and policy. 🧪🦤🦉🌍🌐

73 species in a 5 km radius from my Baldock home in 4 hours today on a glorious winter day. 34 Goldies with 42 Lapwings along Wallington Road, and at least one Marsh Tit still hanging on in the woods. 68% of last year's total already. Safety birding: max efficiency, no surprises #hertsbirds

I left my 8x30 jenoptems on a bench at Slimbridge when I was about 12. They'd walked off by the time I ran back. Not over it.
