2: DEP should require the company to conduct additional studies, including at a watershed level, to ensure that the construction and operation of the pipeline will not have cause additional thermal, siltation, or slope destabilization in the receiving waters.
1: DEP should require additional protections during construction to ensure that water quality standards are being met. DEP must ensure that this use of the waters is protected and that the water quality is not degraded.

The Homer City Generation L.P. is now proposing 5.8 miles of 30-inch steel pipeline to supply fracked gas to the Homer City Energy Campus facility.
We've been following developments happening at the Homer City Energy Campus, a proposed 4.5-gigawatt (that's a lot- think 2 Hoover Dams worth of electricity!) fracked gas-fired power plant intended to supply electricity to a proposed data center.
Pennsylvanians do not want data centers in their communities.
Not only do data centers contribute to rising electric bills & strain local water supply, but they also come with dangerous fracked gas plants & pipelines that pose significant threats to our health and environment.

The Mercury and Air Toxics Standards worked! In the first five years since this standard took effect, mercury emissions from the power sector fell by 86%.
Mercury is a neurotoxin- a poisonous substance that disrupts or damages the nervous system. Once in the air, this toxin settles into our soil & waterways & can remain for decades, posing a particular danger to pregnant women, nursing mothers, infants, & young children.
PA is home to some of the nation’s oldest coal-fired plants that emit tons of mercury- from Conemaugh Generating station in Indiana County to the Gilberton Power Company waste coal facility in Schuylkill County, families have been harmed for too long from coal and waste coal plants across the state.
The EPA announced it is eliminating the Mercury Air Toxics Standards- these standards are hard-won public health protections that were built on decades of rigorous scientific research to protect our health.
BREAKING: The Trump administration just announced the rollback of a critical environmental safeguard that protected our health and environment- the Mercury and Air Toxics Standards (MATS).
