I think that I'm doing the exact same things but then I'm ending up with that all sounds like bullshit. Instruments and melodies don't work together or everything has a lack of energy. And every time I somehow manage to make it work or make something different from what I've already had

Though my other problem is that I absolutely suck at composing. Every time I start new song it's takes a lot of time to get something decent and every time I wonder how the fuck I was able to make all my previous songs. Even making something I'm very familiar with can be difficult for me

Mixing is the last of my problems especially after I've got a pair of good headphones. It's been more than a year and a half since then and I still feel the improvement with every new mix. Also flat frequency response correction helps A LOT and you will improve faster too
