Complete agreement with my colleague Frank Fukuyama on not appeasing Trump on Greenland and tariffs. Perhaps Europeans can inspire US pols to stand up to an increasingly isolated madman.

You should learn enough unix to protect yourself from accidental deletions.

It can correct complex tables and figures generated from R and/or latex in record time!

I agree it is a game changer. It is accessed directly from the terminal, and if you work in Plan Mode, it will allow you to approve every change it makes before it operates on your code. To work effectively from a terminal on a Mac, best to familiarize yourself with some basic Unix commands.

Deeply saddened by the loss today of my UCLA colleague Ed Ed Leamer, a brilliant scholar, extraordinary communicator, and wonderful person. His classic work influenced generations of scholars.

The Path to American Authoritarianism What comes after democratic breakdown.

I found this Foreign Affairs piece by Levitsky and Way hugely insightful in putting together Trump's disparate decisions and activities. But no particular outcome is foreordained, and thinking through who can be mobilized to put up roadblocks is the next step. www.foreignaffairs.com/united-state...

Really interesting work. Just wondering why you are expanding to 107 journals rather than limiting the focus to the (30? 50?) most highly cited. Won’t you be picking up a lot of never- or rarely-cited articles in obscure journals that are essentially noise?

Civics instruction was standard in the US for much of the 20th century. I had it in elementary school. It is not part of an authoritarian plot. There are many reasons to oppose many Trump policies β€” possibly including this one β€” but there is nothing per se wrong with civics education.

@joposato.bsky.social perhaps there is limit to the number of obs in that format? Suggest you open the .dta format, which is complete.

Delighted by the attention the US dataset with @eugenian.bsky.social has generated! It extends back in time and fills in two datasets (Ansolabehere, Ban and Snyder 2017 doi.org/10.7910/DVN/... and Klarner 2018 doi.org/10.7910/DVN/...). Graph shows which state-years are ours and which theirs.

I wonder if men are equally mean to one another but they just keep on working? That is not my experience β€” I do think men are meaner to women β€” but I also think women might be more thin skinned.
