Here’s a really nice movement of a Cetti’s Warbler last year. Ringed by us at Abberton Res, Essex on 14 July, then caught again at Leighton Moss, Lancashire on 9 November. 354 km NW. A top example of juvenile female Cetti’s dispersal, right to edge of range.
Ringing recovery: a Reed Warbler ringed at Abberton Res on 20 July was caught 10 days later at Clopton, Cambridgeshire. WNW movement of 71 km.
First autumn Willow Warblers in the Abberton #birdringing nets - always a joy 💛
Better late than never: a recently fledged Nightingale at today’s Abberton CES. 🤎
First juvenile birds of the CES season at Abberton yesterday, including several rather cute Long-tailed Tits.

He’s back! Lovely start to this year’s Abberton CES for @btobirds.bsky.social with return of a Nightingale we first caught in May 2023 that had originally been ringed, in it’s first winter, in The Gambia 🇬🇲 in January 2020. Now 6 years old with 12 migrations completed. Epic!
