I can’t do what my dad did - which was to move back to the east and set up a small technical manufacturing firm.
(Practical reasons - I’m married to a Brit who won’t learn German) so I’m stuck just voting and hoping. It’s hard though E Germans don’t appreciate how much better life is in Germany!

It’s not just economics though. There’s a lot of nostalgia and misremembering. My mum has a good friend who simultaneously does not (intellectually) disbelieve that my dad was imprisoned and beaten up by the Stasi many times but cannot reconcile it with her memory of the DDR.

Heavy vehicles should pay for potholes? As there’s an exponential relationship between weight and wear this seems like a no-brainer…

Excellent work by @wheelsforwellbeing.org.uk pointing out the impact on disabled people’s mobility and the limitations of the newly released statutory guidelines which should be altered to clarify the very low fire risk posed by legal, unmodified Electric Assist Pedal Cycles used as mobility aids.

Apologies I’ve just tried this a second time and I can see the difference - the one I sent you didn’t work but the one I just sent did. I’m a bit puzzled at what I did wrong the first time as I thought both had been alt texted. Anyway I’m sorry.

Ok I’ve just been called out for not alt texting. To be clear I thought I had so I’d appreciate feedback. Can anyone else detect the text I entered? This is what I did to the previous image so I’m just checking that I’ve done it correctly.

I did alt text. Sorry if it didn’t work but I did describe the kerb and crossing point just beyond it (in white with tactile markings (it’s one of the reasons I like Bluesky and I’m not 100% but I do generally do alt text)
