My university received a few years ago the promise of the largest single gift to a public university in U.S. history. It was equivalent to 12 hours of bombing Iran.

This was special. I got to host ABC's The Philosophers' Zone, in celebration of International Women's Day. And - the best part - I interviewed my good friend Kristin Gjesdal.
Hear Kristin (and me) talk about IWD and the woman behind it, Clara Zetkin, here:

It is just such a pleasure reading Baldwin writing about Shakespeare (and really about love) www.themarginalian.org/2016/11/11/j...

The Center is very sad to report the untimely passing of Andrew Cooper (Warwick), who was a Fellow at the Center for Philosophy of Science in 2023. Andrew was an outstanding philosopher in addition to a wonderful human being.
I had a wonderful conversation with Scott Stephens and Walled Aly on Radio Nationa's "The Minefield." Episode -
on Beauty in the age of speed, frictionlessness and AI slop

This was a really fun conversation with @nieaufgehenderrest.bsky.social
who was a very generous and thoughtful dialogue partner. Many thanks for your time and all the work you are putting towards bringing (German) philosophy to the fore.
I was struck by this statement
Hinseyβs βintimations of that higher realmβ are not of a morally neutral divinity but rather of the Good, which can only be apprehended when we are attuned to a primordial innocence within ourselves (βthe goodβ that βseeks the Goodβ)
Fantastic review of Ellen Hinsey's "Invisible Fugue" by Luke Fischer, Marginalia Rev of Books
"...Hinseyβs work attests to the power of the marginalized art form of poetry to awaken our conscience and ignite the creative spark of existence."

i was incredibly excited to be published by the hopkins review a few years ago. it was something iβd read since undergrad.
if they were looking for a way to suck every dram of good will i had for their press or their university out and spit it into an open sewer, baller move, i guess.
"[5-month-old Zainab Abu Halib] had weighed over 3 kilograms (6.6 pounds) when she was born, her mother said. When she died, she weighed less than 2 kilograms (4.4 pounds) ... Zainab was one of [at least] 85 children to die of malnutrition-related causes in Gaza in the past three weeks."
Consider applying to the next conference of the East Asian Schelling Network. Weβre meeting in Taipei. Iβm stoked to be giving a keynote lecture. To the one and all!

Oh no ... I am utterly speechless. The, late great, and brilliant Karl Ameriks has passed away. We have lost such a bright star! He was an excellent scholar, historian and Philosopher. :(
R. I. P. Dr. Ameriks.
shame you didn't make it! I hope I will see you at some point today or tomorrow though!
That's a wrap on my series of recent books on women in #philosophy for #womenshistorymonth! You can see them individually in my profile--an impressive list, and I'm sure there are others.
If we don't think they're there, we won't look; if we don't look we won't find them. Here's to finding more!
Speaking today (in about an hour) on **Humboldt and Schelling** at the History and Philosophy of Environmental Thought - a hybrid conference, organised by Luis Garcia at Leuven.
