For the record, when you draw exactly what comes from your heart and style, it comes out lovely. Just this past Tuesday before DND, our DND group was looking over the art you did for my husband of his character Crom and talking about how cool your style and and how much we love those pieces!

It doesn't make it hurt any less, but in this situation I would tell them that they commissioned me for my style and my style is what they got and I will not be making any changes nor refunding. That.. really only covers the customer service part of this and not the mental toll it takes though...

I'll preface with saying that it's really not easy to hear these sorts of things and it's even harder not to let them sit in your head. They should be well aware of your portfolio before commissioning you and therefore if they just suddenly up and decide they don't like it it's entirely on them.
