I had to start this sentence three times before I made enough sense of it to stop trying to make it about Doctor Who.
An old yellow, I’m not sure I think it’s an Elm tree with yellow leaves and a dramatic, greyish black trunk, silhouette by an intense blue sky
A red burning bush, bush that is celebrate by a blue sky with a few clouds. In the background there’s an old Hydro pole and wires.
The orange leaves of a serviceberry reflected by a bright sun in the background. There is a street with mixed residential and retail buildings, and in the foreground there is a black car.
Trees were like jewels with the sun streaming through the full palette 🎨 yesterday
Every few months now I re-read this "Who Goes Nazi?" piece from 1941 and am blown away by how it captures the people we are dealing with 80 years later.

Did you know that you can donate $5 a month to your local PBS, get their "passport" benefit, and watch the 1995 "Pride and Prejudice", start to finish, without ads, bullshit or guilt.
Go forth, enjoy great shows, #FundPBS
Spot on from @anneapplebaum.bsky.social “Putin is not looking for a cease-fire, and he does not want to negotiate. Why? Because he believes that he can win. Thanks to the actions of the U.S. government...”
The Vienna academy of fine arts in 1907 and tell them to admit Adolph Hitler
It’s Mary Anning’s birthday, so time to share @katebeaton.bsky.social’s brilliant cartoon again.
Will never not watch this clip when it's posted, not least because for all the chat from grifters about "wHaT wOMeN wANt" it's really just someone living life with great vim, curiosity and enthusiasm
Pictured is a jar of paprika on a stone table against the backdrop of a flowering bush. The reference is to Jonathan Harker’s discovery of his taste for paprika in the opening of the novel Dracula.
And so it begins.

"Forty-two years ago, for reasons beyond my comprehension, David Lynch plucked me out of obscurity to star in his first and last big budget movie. He clearly saw something in me that even I didn’t recognize. I owe my entire career, and life really, to his vision. What I saw in him was an enigmatic and intuitive man with a creative ocean bursting forth inside of him. He was in touch with something the rest of us wish we could get to. Our friendship blossomed on Blue Velvet and then Twin Peaks and I always found him to be the most authentically alive person I’d ever met. David was in tune with the universe and his own imagination on a level that seemed to be the best version of human. He was not interested in answers because he understood that questions are the drive that make us who we are. They are our breath. While the world has lost a remarkable artist, I’ve lost a dear friend who imagined a future for me and allowed me to travel in worlds I could never have conceived on my own. I can see him now, standing up to greet me in his backyard, with a warm smile and big hug and that Great Plains honk of a voice. We’d talk coffee, the joy of the unexpected, the beauty of the world, and laugh. His love for me and mine for him came out of the cosmic fate of two people who saw the best things about themselves in each other. I will miss him more than the limits of my language can tell and my heart can bear. My world is that much fuller because I knew him and that much emptier now that he’s gone. David, I remain forever changed, and forever your Kale. Thank you for everything."
was mostly keeping it together until I read Kyle MacLachlan's tribute to David Lynch
may you find the time, energy, inspiration, dedication and silliness to draw more in the coming year
This is a great time to start The Dark is Rising, for anyone who wants to read it when it's set. The BBC audio version is available and great: www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/brand... #TheDarkIsReading
