Iranians came together to bid a final farewell to 168 young girls, aged 7 to 12, who were killed in a U.S.-Israeli strike targeting their elementary school.
Hello darkness my old friend...
Earlier this week the Aziz family stood with Sadiq Khan on stage and praised Londonβs community values. Now theyβre conducting a sudden clearout of almost all private tenants from their vast residential property holdings, seemingly to replace them with more profitable temporary accommodation.
More superb reporting in London Centric on the Aziz family, this time evicting hundreds of tenants from residential properties, which comes on top of dodgy tax evading gift shops, trying to close the Prince Charles Cinema etc βΒ absolutely depressing that politicians can't do anything about this lot.
Just wanted to say thank you for sending βMeridianβ. Love it and glad there is a place for poetry despite all the difficulties x

Bridget the cat infiltrates the 'Abbey Road' cover shoot and becomes THE definitive fifth Beatle.
THREAD.
My parents' cat Bridget vanished. As the weeks dragged on they became ever more worried, so to distract himself my dad began to paint Bridget's adventures, imagining her travelling through time and popping up at some of art & music's most important moments.
I've collected his work here...
π¨ The UK government just published a breakdown of the responses to its consultation on AI & copyright:
- 95% of respondents want AI companies to pay for their training data (made up of 88% saying strengthen copyright law, & 7% saying leave it as is)

It only took ten years for a dedicated bunch of well-connected weirdoes to get the entire UK elite to unite against a tiny minority of the population that they previously barely noticed.
The few to resist, like Robin Ince, deserve our lasting gratitude and respect.
National Trust types! It's AGM time, do vote for the suggested candidates & block the right-wing, 'anti-woke', mysteriously-funded Restore Trust, who are against eg rewilding and discussing colonial history / LGBT+ heritage (last week my sister saw OOTW in an NT shop, would it be if they had power?)
I think so! I too have wondered if I should go grey but my hair is naturally very dark so π€·ββοΈ

π§΅In March I wrote about how Trump's attacks on science & universities followed the authoritarian playbook & set out Qs as warning signs for escalation.

The UK car industry contributes Β£22bn to the economy and employs c 35k people.
Universities contribute Β£265bn and employ nearly 400k, over 10x as much.
Yet he seems ok to let that sector implode.

3,300 years ago, these amazingly-preserved floral collars were created by sewing cornflowers and berries, on a bed of olive and persea leaves, onto a papyrus backing. They were probably worn during a feast as part of Tutankhamunβs burial ceremonies www.artsy.net/article/arts...

A dismal year for sales (thus far). That's not a reason to buy our books, of course: they're well-made, good and useful things, and designed to last a lifetime. You can find them here:

Well said. Worth watching and sharing.
My designs get lots of publicity in magazines and online and it looks like Iβm doing really well.
The reality is that itβs bloody hard work being self employed and itβs not getting any easier.
Have a look at what I do and repost. Thanks.

NEW: Elon Muskβs X has suspended accounts of Turkish opposition groups, suppressing footage of anti-government protests.
So, best we share all the footage we can here!

My latest post is now out.
I show how Trump's attacks on science and universities are neither random nor new - they fit very precisely into the authoritarian playbook.
This means we can guess what might come next and prepare - and we must!

I can't believe things in US have got to the point where we are wondering if our most iconic & far-travelled cultural ambassadors *to the rest of the universe* might be abandoned.
They are humanity's achievement and legacy as a species, not just America's, in potential danger.
