This is the guy who doesn't get invited back to your second D&D session because he was way too into it in a weird sexual way.

Pulled up a job listing that used "ambitious and aggressive" multiple times in the candidate description (and underlined for extra emphasis), followed by "ruthless."
Of course, it's a huge company that's recently laid off a ton of people.
Sounds like a dreamy place to work.
Franken Berry def has balls.
I fully agree. True Detective turned short spurts on TV into an appealing gig for A-list actors, and executives are allergic to the idea of minis and anthologies, too. They want the busiest names, and they want to extend their commitment.

Not 20 ep seasons, but you know. Still a majorly effects driven show hitting its 10 every year without any dips in quality.
More recently, The Expanse did this too. With a SyFy budget, then a full platform jump to Prime without missing a year.
β and somehow it was *shocking* that they did. They moved production to an entirely new city, built or rebuilt all their sets, and still got seasons out in back-to-back years. And itβs a heavily practical and visual effects driven show. Everyone expected another 2-3 year wait.
And nobody can explain it in any meaningful way. Thereβs no reason for any TV show to take multiple years to produce. Zero. GoT kills that concept every time, but even the network TV currently airing does. Production will match the speed at which you need something done β even Fallout S2 did it.
The thing is, this used to be doable even for disgustingly expensive shows. Game of Thrones ran 7 seasons annually without fail from 2011 - 2017 before a two year gap for the finale.
And everyone thought that gap was insufferably long. Now, itβs the shortest youβll wait.
Thereβs an awe factor when showing a non-gamer what a modern AAA title looks like today, but it doesnβt translate to genuine interest. Theyβd choose a Switch with Mario Kart 8 for themselves practically every time.
Poor Jonathan Majors went to the Daily Wire when he could've just linked up with Paramount and gotten a first-look deal.
Iβve picked a water-type starter every time since 1998. Thereβs no real reason other than kid logic, but thatβs the pact I live by.
Boy.
How fucked up is it that weβre at the point where the unemployed feel anxiety about other peopleβs layoffs not just because they empathize, but because thereβs a perpetually expanding pool of applicants and a narrowing pittance of jobs.
Maximum Carnage was easily a top 5 most played SNES game for me. I've been waiting for this day for decades.
I like that Leon is super hot and drives a Porsche. After all he's been through, good for him.
Resident Evil Requiem is the most I've enjoyed this franchise in 20 years.
The ebb and flow of helplessness and power fantasy between Grace/Leon has a really strong hook, and I'm honestly fine with some fan service for the 30th anniversary.
My girlfriend just discovered Tubi, and Iβve now learned that her favorite childhood show was Baywatch.
This is going to be a wild ride.
Execs in gaming & digital media have the same harebrained strategy: reverse engineering someone else's success by ignoring all context of how it happened.
Everyone wants Fortnite and Hot Ones, and they're willing to wipe out people's livelihood to ultimately fail repeatedly while learning nothing.
Itβs literally just a video. C-suite idiots looking to package content for sponsors are just reinventing the wheel with the astonishing premise of recording an interview with video. Itβs also been a part of podcasting for a generation β it isnβt remotely new.
The Wrestler and Black Swan are really fantastic companion pieces. Completely inverse ideas horrifically barreling toward the same end point.
The same people crying about not understanding Bad Bunnyβs Spanish-language performance absolutely donβt know or comprehend the meaning behind any of the lyrics in English songs they βlistenβ to.
Playing Mario Tennis Fever, it felt a little too floaty. There's some tactile response missing that makes a perfectly executed slice or power shot feel impactful. Maybe it was the drowned out audio from the event, but it lacked the satisfying crunch of a ball you know is 100% winning a point.
Gotta hit them with the glossary of banned terms and phrases.
[hint: they're all banned]
You don't find condescending soapboxing veiled as relatable anecdotes from c-suite execs to be helpful to your job search?
AI-powered job assistant told me I am just a medium match for a role I previously held (and literally created) at my former employer.
Since weβre all talking about remakes today, seems like a good time to remind you I did a whole interview series on why weβre obsessed with remaking games, with six different developers, including Dragon Quest. (Also hire me, I can do this kimd of stuff for you) www.inverse.com/remade
It's been two months since I was laid off at Rolling Stone, and I'm still searching for full-time work.

One of my favorite memories of last yearβs work was a morning where I had a pre-pro meeting with Hideo Kojima for a panel I was moderating. My negative review of MGS Delta had just run, and his team approached me to say, βMr. Kojima found your story very funny.β The casual pettiness was incredible.
